I don't find it offensive to dress up as another race as long as acting roles aren't being taken from minorities for white people to portray them, and the costume isn't used to negatively stereotype or mock them.

Now lets end Eddy Murphy's career for whiteface:

If they think Prime Minister Trudeau is liberal now, just wait until his next term: He will be SUPER liberal in order to atone for his past sins.

Oh for the love of pete.... He was dressed as a Genie as part of a High School's 1001 Arabian nights-themed event. I can see Genies maybe getting upset by this portrayal.... but everyone else this legitimately offends needs to get grip.

Exactly so.... and speaking of context, a photo taken 18 years ago for a High School Yearbook of the son of a former PM and currently PM himself (so he's never been low-profile) just happens to surface during an election campaign. Nothing suspicious there.

What's going to be next? is every actor whoever played a Klingon in Star Trek going to be attacked as racist too?

I dressed up as pocahontas once (no pun intended). Next year I donned a cowboy outfit.

I don't know what to tell you.... all I saw from the video was him raising his arms and making a face at the camera. I didn't see any "shuffling around" or "acting like an ape". Like Lovebug says, context is important. Is there any connection to the Genie episode? Maybe after the event ended and he changed back into his street clothes and some student shot a video of him?

I'm not trying to make excuses for the guy... but he was a high-profile teacher at a racially diverse high school. I'm thinking if there were any racial overtones to his actions, they would have come out long before now.

Maybe, but there does appear to be a pattern here. You could justify one of the pics perhaps, but we're now up 2 pics plus a video.
Its definitely odd behaviour for an adult

That's meaningless if all of the pics and videos were taken during a single event where he was just dressed up as a mythological being. He was a High School teacher... didn't any of your teachers in High School ever do whacky stuff every now and again during School events?

If there was a pattern of behavior there that showed racist overtones, then I can see him definitely being in the wrong. But Vancouver is probably one of the most cosmopolitan and racially diverse cities in North America. It's not like this was some claustrophobic "whites only" school in the back of beyond somewhere. If he was being racist in even the slightest degree, someone would have complained about it then.

Here's hoping he's outa here. Is there still time for Jody Wilson-Raybould to be elected leader before the election?
The only way this could be a bad thing is if it leads to Sheer and his Tories being elected or, gawdhelpus, Singh and the NDP
