That's the thing, I don't think the GOP actually needs to change all that much. While yes, it has its problems, it's not near as big as those on the opposite side like to portray it as. As pointed out in the video by some, the DNC likes to portray Republicans as racist as a fear tactic. Note, I'm not saying that there are not racist Republicans, that would be stupid. But I also do not think its near as bad as the DNC likes to make it out to be.

People like to point out that there aren't that many black people voted into office on the Republican side but I find such statements to be dishonest in that they're not looking at obvious things. Like the fact that 90%+ of blacks always vote Democrat. That doesn't leave a lot of black people on the Republican side, much less qualified enough to hold office. Though I am seeing some political conservative black activists that, if they put their energy into it the right way, would get voted in.

Here's the thing in my opinion. The blacks that leave mostly leave because they feel the party has left them not because the GOP is offering them more hope which is why most folks of color still vote democratic. It is also why I would love the GOP to change enough to attract more of a diversity of voters. I just don't see the GOP changing enough for that to ever happen.

I think what is surprising to a lot of people, blacks, Dems and Trump haters, is that Trump had more support from blacks than, say, Romney in the 2016 election and that he has ANY support from blacks at all right now.

are a novelty, they do not represent 1% of the country.

They get far more attention than they deserve because the are so rare, so unique.

Most of them are capitalizing on their novelty.

If you are a black conservative your phone is blowing up from the propagandists to use you to disguise truth.

In any case, by switching to the GOP more blacks are going to see more blacks on the GOP bandwagon. The more blacks on the GOP bandwagon the more will "convert" (for lack of a better term atm). The more blacks "convert", the more the GOP will change. Now, the reasons why those that "convert" will convert will no doubt vary widely, but seeing more blacks enter the GOP will make other blacks pause and reconsider things. The only way that the DNC will stop hemorrhaging black people is if they stop treating black people as nothing more than votes that need to be gotten during an election year and then forgotten until the next election year. Something that many black conservatives resent and despise.

And by the by....8% of black people voted for Trump in 2016. Polls show that approval of Trump among blacks is between 15% and 25% depending on which poll you look at. The only one spouting propaganda here is you.

I'm following your thinking but disagree in the order of change. It's going to take the GOP changing before the numbers will begin to make a difference to make the dems worry. Yes, it's now the Party of Trump. He owns it. It only took Trump 2 years. The GOP is wrapped in Trumpism. That means a lot of things, most of which I don't like. If you think those things are positive, go with it.

Don't get me wrong, the change is not going to be immediate. I don't expect the numbers to reflect that big of a change in 2020. But over time, in the long run, there IS going to be change. Unless something drastic happens social change is always slow.
