If Director Comey presented the Senate with emails from Trump agreeing to give Alaska back to Russia in return for Putin handing him the election, the GOP would not start articles of impeachment.

I would say the odds right now are about 50 50 that he completes his term. Republicans will continue to stay with him - watch the House give him their support for Trump care this week - because they want the tax cuts and will do what ever they have to do until that happens.

Two months into a 48 months term and a serious storm has already developed. IMO, none of us escape our karma. As more and more of Trump's shenanigans come to light, he can count on less and less support from the GOP rank and file. These GOP Senators and Congresspeeps feel the heat from angry constituents. If we who oppose Trump soldier on, we increase the prospect of Trump's ouster. We need not accept letting a malignant narcissist continue to govern incompetently. I feel a duty to oppose Trump.... and plenty of gumption left to fulfill this important mission! Alone, we cannot. Together, we can!

He can't get out of this unscathed. The only question, IMO, is how many other GOPers does he take down with him.

They are holding our for a dignified interim, so that they can pretend that they gave him a shot.

None of that will happen until Republicans kill every safety net program and transfer the entirety of the tax burden to the non-rich. And Republican voters will support all of this because they love the super wealthy more than they like themselves.

You misunderstood the intent of my post. I didn't mean that Hawkeye was the enemy of me, I meant that based on the Republicans' policies, Hawkeye was the enemy of them.

While past precedent generally provides the best indication of what most likely happens in the future, the election of Donald J. Trump and the subsequent turmoil just within the first 61 days of his Administration, gives many of us cause to disagree with you.

For now your view of impeachment as desperate wishing thinking and not a remote possibility remains safe. I grin at revisiting the subject a year from now.

Trey Gowdy led the 2 year $7 million Benghazi-HRC Investigation. Yesterday during the House Intelligence Committee hearing, Gowdy, regarding the probe into "Russian entanglement" seemed to press FBI Director Comey to "put up" or "shut up".

In spite of GOP control of the White House and both branches of Congress, I suspect this tenuous web to grow more entangled and lead to a Special Prosecutor. In time we find out.
