The Stupidity of AR-15 Bans

The number of people killed by rifle fire is about 200 on an average year. That's about 3% of the total number of gun deaths.

Most gun deaths are due to handguns. More people are killed on an average Chicago weekend by handguns than are killed all year by rifles of all kinds, much less AR-15s.

Why is the focus on AR-15s? It's stupid. You don't see any gang bangers carrying AR-15s. People don't shoot themselves with AR-15s.

Banning AR-15s will do almost nothing aside from hurting law abiding owners.

Sadly, the Supreme Court refuses to reign back the idiocy of the FDR administration and correctly note that the commerce clause is not a proper grounds for finding congress can do anything other than restrict the import of items from a foreign source. But if a firearm is in common use and is not UNUSUALLY dangerous, It is protected. Since the US Government sold hundreds of thousands of firearms that work exactly the same as the guns the dishonest scum in congress are trying to ban, it will be hard for any honest judge to claim the federal government has the power to ban things like AR 15s

You didn't answer the question. As usual, you just made another claim "US Government sold hundreds of thousands of firearms that work exactly the same as the guns...like AR 15s" for which you provide no evidence to support.

are you so ignorant of firearms you cannot understand how an MI Carbine works and then compare it to an AR 15?

We are talkin about a ban on AR 15's.....

Per the Heller decision:

The handgun ban and the trigger-lock requirement (as applied to self-defense) violate the Second Amendment . The District’s total ban on handgun possession in the home amounts to a prohibition on an entire class of “arms” that Americans overwhelmingly choose for the lawful purpose of self-defense. Under any of the standards of scrutiny the Court has applied to enumerated constitutional rights, this prohibition—in the place where the importance of the lawful defense of self, family, and property is most acute—would fail constitutional muster

With that finding as anchor, the Court ruled a total ban on operative handguns in the home is unconstitutional, as the ban runs afoul of both the self-defense purpose of the Second Amendment – a purpose not previously articulated by the Court – and the "in common use at the time" prong of the Miller decision: Since handguns are in common use, their ownership is protected.

Are you going to tell us that the AR 15 and other semi automatic rifles does not constitute an "entire class of arms"?

And they are quite obviously in common use.

The M1 carbine is not an assault rifle nor an assault style rifle. As usual, your answer is non-sequitur and you avoid providing the necessary evidence to back up what you contend. Your claim is unfounded without supporting evidence.
