Don't be.
And get blood tested every six months at least.
You WILL sooner or later come up full diabetic (we don't use the term pre-diabetic, diabetic is diabetic) as everyone will if they live long enough.
What's crucial. Let me repeat, what's CRUCIAL is early detection and good, solid education!
I was placed in the care of a team of specialists, including the most important link - a dietitian (actually a team of about a dozen) who saved my life! I was waaaaaay far away from being full diabetic. But it scared the shit out of me. I had seen how they whittled down my grandmother, her toes, legs,, thighs etc.
14 years later, I walk into that clinic and they roll out the carpet, bowing to something truly extraordinary in their world - a middle aged male who followed instructions to the letter.
I am 75. Last week picking up my pre pack of meds, the pharmacist told me I looked 60!
All I've done is what they told me. I eat a balanced diet with built-in cheats (chocolate, ice cream - never booze) and get out for a staunch walk every day. I have survived two heart attacks, a mild stroke and PTSD.
Go now. Do what they say.
