The latest left wing newspeak meme

"whataboutism" is just the liberal talking point of avoiding discussing the crimes and hypocrisy of their ilk.

For example, the only "Collusion" we have actual evidence of is with hillary and the democrat party. Mention that in a thread and you get spoiled little liberal brats screeching "whataboutism" and refusing to address their hypocrisy.

Look, obviously some measure of pointing out hypocracy is legit. But when the conversation is “ Well, Trump plans to kill the children of terrorists,” and the response is something like “What about Vincent Foster and Hillary?”, we get absurd. One could, for example, mention Obama’s drone strikes that killed families and go from there to compare and contrast.

I just thought I'd mention it because the "whataboutism" thing keep popping up. If I want to talk about Hillary's shady dealings or Obama's unconstitutional actions, I will.

If you are off topic you are hijacking the thread and that is bad behavior. Yeah, we have all done it but we should learn to restrain ourselves for the betterment of discourse at D.P.

I started the thread, how can I be off topic?

It's called "whataboutism". If you point out their hypocrisy in ignoring the crimes of their own party as they complain about the other guys, you'll hear "but, but whataboutism" as if nothing their guys did ever mattered.

Don't fall for it, it's just another way to stifle free speech and debate. You can be rest assured that the next time they are on the hook for anything they will be saying "what about Trump?" and won't even acknowledge that they ever started the "whataboutism" thing.

Heh heh, you just won the Ironic Projection Attempt of the Year Award for that one.

I don't accept the "fact" of Russian meddling, beyond the meddling they have always done, everywhere. Were you this concerned when Obama tried to meddle in Israel's election?

The Russians aren't tearing democracy down, but some of the people in this thread would like to.

I don't live in Israel, and I worked for a Russian TV program for six years, and you have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to the state of Russian espionage against not only the USA but much of Europe and parts of the Middle East.

In fact, it's not even that you don't know what you're talking about, it's that you're either so ignorant that you don't know that you don't know, or you're deliberately denying it.
If the latter, 55 Savushkina St. should be sending you some checks, they owe you.
I'm not accusing you of being a paid Russian troll, your style doesn't seem to ring true.
I'm saying they'd give their left nut to recruit you.

"the latest left wing newspeak meme" Oh, you mean the facts?

Well, I never worked for a Russian TV show, I just served in the US military during both Vietnam and the cold war.

My favorite instance is when Trump brought a small representive group of women that team Hillary had allowed to be relegated as trash to be ignored ... so, you know, hey Hill, what about all those women you helped your husband politically dispose? You know, the ones Bill sexually harrassed, groped, molested, assaulted, raped? What about that Hill? Billy?

Those two aren't here anymore.

What about Trump?

We just got done with 8 years of "It's Bush's fault" and "But Bush did it too...and worse".

So...why not 8 years of "Obama". At least we actually have some corrupt Obama stuff to talk about.

The left often says, "but what about Ronald Reagan"?

I am more concerned with Russian interference in the mid terms. I am also concerned as the current Pres does not seem to accept the fact of Russian meddling. Trump is negligent as our the GOP by enabling his refusal for additional sanctions. What has Trump done to prevent future interference ? Get off the liberal hate, its the Russians tearing our democracy down.

Do you really stupidly believe that sanctions on Russia are going to stop them from meddling in elections around the world?

He had two scoops of ice cream with his dessert, the sorry rat bastard.

But that's not the point. The point is that he wouldn't allow anyone else to have two scoops of ice cream. On top of that, he drinks too many diet cokes, eats at McDonalds too much and does the treasoness act of having his steaks cooked well done and, if that wasn't enough, he uses ketchup on his steaks, the sorry rat bastard.

Misses the point. The points about Bush usually were relevant to the conversation; when talking about the sluggish recovery under Obama, it's relevant to point out that the crash that happened under Bush was deep and broad, so to the extent that a President can be blamed for the economy, Bush should be blamed first, within the context of that discussion, and a sluggish recovery is to be expected.

Whataboutism is basically a new term for a red herring, in which something completely irrelevant is brought up as a distraction from the topic at hand. If the topic is, say, Trump's rather selective attitudes toward the abuse of women, and someone brings up Benghazi or Hillary's email server, that is a red herring.

I suppose it's not a good sign that people don't realize there's already a name for this classic fallacy, but here we are. It's wrong whenever anyone does it, left or right.

LOL!!

Nice attempt at rationalization. Too bad it's a fail.

Bush wasn't responsible for the crash and Obama owns his sluggish recovery.

Whataboutism isn't a red herring. It's pointing out hypocrisy.

Well, I never worked for a Russian TV show, I just served in the US military during both Vietnam and the cold war.

And that has to do with present day Russian espionage and psyops .... what?
I wouldn't dare attempt to speak with authority on a subject like the weakness of the Ngô Đình Diệm government or the effectiveness of U.S. Army tunnel rats, because I don't know a damn thing about them, even though one tunnel rat was a dear friend of mine.

Oh B.S.

If the topic is Trump, and you go off on HRC, Obama, or some-such, no one gives a damn. Open up another thread on whoever it is that bothers you, and stay on-topic.

It sounds like you're attempting to rationalize your distracting from the topic.

About as much as being on a Russian TV show does.

About as much as being on a Russian TV show does.

I wasn't ever ON the show.
I was a camera op and an editor...my producers were Russians.
Our audience were Russians.
We produced material here in L.A. and also went back and forth to the Soviet Union, and later when it was no longer the USSR.
Also...side note, my father was one of the original SALT Talk negotiators. He was a nuclear physicist during the Cold War at the Pentagon. (Defense Atomic Support Agency - later named the Defense Nuclear Agency)

Look, I gather that NO ONE, not even Putin himself, would convince YOU, the self described "expert", that Russia is meddling in our affairs to a very large extent. I've put what I know out there, not just in my piddling couple of posts here in this thread but in numerous other threads on this forum.
Anyone who follows me or any number of other people here have seen and read my arguments and theirs already, so this is out there now, and it doesn't matter if you believe it.

At some point enough will be revealed that you won't be able to deny it.
I can lay money on that. A lot of people like yourself will be in shock.

Those two aren't here anymore.

What about Trump?

Trump? What about Trump?

Whatta ya wanna know?

About the inspired and rapidly growing economy, the exponential growth in investments, normal, repatriated and foreign, hundreds of billions, or lifting the regulatory chains that bind American businesses and workers, cutting taxes for everybody and our corporate rates allowing us, American businesses, to be more competitive world wide, driving ISIS out of their safe havens in the loss of their oil rich funding caliphate state, rounding up and kicking out the violently mass murderous MS13, getting us out of a stupid and economically brain dead Paris Accord, wages and bonuses up, unemployment way down in every conceivable area, getting NATO allies to pony up their fair an agreed upon share, etc, etc, etc?...oh, and an excellent Supreme Court justice.

That?

The topic is the one I started.

A thread defending off topic whataboutism is an off topic thread. The off topic thread was predictably initiated by a chronically off topic rightwhinger.

It escapes you, we know.

Yet it remains the thread was stillborn.

It sounds to me like you're the self described expert. As impressed as I am with your credentials as a cameraman, I would still like to see the proof that Russia colluded with Trump to swing the election - and it ain't there.

You omitted the trains running on time.

Trains running into one another is another matter yes but let's get on that too while yer at it.

Protecting the November 6th election and campaign are right up there too so it's hard to see why nothing significant is being done. Well, maybe not hard to see. Not hard to see at all in fact. Putin is rather busy about it on the other hand.
