The Democratic Party primary election debate thread

I don't think he's dumb enough to do it before, but after, should he win, god forbid? With 4 years to go? I can see runaway/slippery slope escalation happening easily, and he certainly appears eager enough to throw down with Iran.

Well then Pompeo needs to quit saying we're gonna remove our troops from Afghanistan. Seems like that would be a great operating base for a war with Iran.

I'll believe it when it happens. Lots of people have been talking about lots of draw down in Afghanistan for a lot of time.

You're confused. This thread is about the dem debate not the White House.

No, I'm pretty sure I meant what I said.

Let me add that NOT ONE of THEM can stand up to Trump in a debate.

I'm sure NBC will position Biden in between Sanders and Buttigieg, so Joe isn't tempted to sniff the closest competitors. Gillibrand will carry pepper spray, just in case.

I doubt much happens other than hate on Trump, and hate on the current front runner Biden.

Well... other than a promise of a laundry list of things paid by the wealthy, i.e. “free” for them, to rally that base just as Sanders did for the 2016 run.

No, I'm pretty sure I meant what I said.

Oh, I know you meant it, you just don't have any idea what you're talking about like always.

Let me add that NOT ONE of THEM can stand up to Trump in a debate.

Any one of them would kick his ass and you know it.

No that's pretty much the opposite of what I think. ...again.

I'm most looking forward to Hickenlooper on night 2, and hoping he has some breakout moments. I'm also going to pay close attention to Bennet and Buttigieg.

On night 1 I'll be watching Ryan and Delaney and hoping they do well.

I don't think the libs that run NBC want Biden. They made a big deal of the "working with dixiecrats" statement.
I think one of the socialists would be more to.there liking.

Isn't that pretty much how we the sheeple got offered Hillary vs. Bernie in the DNC 2016 primary race?

Is your point that only the party elites should do the winnowing of the field of primary candidates and that having even two "frontrunners" is one too many?

No, because Bernie and the others (O'Malley, Webb et al) had nothing to do with the coronation of Mrs. Clinton as the Democratic candidate. That isn't what Rex is suggesting. I like Rex's idea.

They need to focus more on why they would make good presidents than try to nitpick the Democratic party.

And they need to be a lot more than just being anti-Trump if they actually want to appeal to Independents and moderates, who don't want socialism.

Not unlike a certain current president who has a hard on to invade Iran.

You see, with comments like that Independents or moderates aren't going to vote for you. Say all the bad things you want about Trump but he does not have a hard on to invade Iran. That's just nonsense.

No that's pretty much the opposite of what I think. ...again.

You don't know what you think until Hannity tells you what to think.

Two dozen choices at this stage of the game is too many; what a waste of resources. Money should not matter in politics, but that is where we are and have been for...ever. We the sheeple are too worried with crapola, like how big Kim Kardashian's butt is. Congress has ceded power/authority for to long and are spineless to take it back.

Who's supposed to take it back, a newly elected Congress? Congress is Congress. By the way, the left are attacking KK's butt after she planted it on Trump's desk.

IMHO, even Trump is smart enough to know that invading Iran would guarantee his loss in the 2020 POTUS general election. Trump still has quite a few ME military "conflicts" brewing and has expressed little (or no?) desire to start another. The only way that I could see the US military getting involved with Iran directly is if Israel goes rogue and starts something with Iran and 'we are forced to defend our best buddy in the region'.

Or, it's possible Iran could do something stupid.

What if the weak are the socialists? Can you live with that?

Sure.

You see, with comments like that Independents or moderates aren't going to vote for you. Say all the bad things you want about Trump but he does not have a hard on to invade Iran. That's just nonsense.

The evidence is to the contrary per his recent, dangerous game of chicken.

Also, independents and 'moderates' generally don't care for his idiotic handling of Iran, and saber rattling.

Too many on the stage at once. We won't get much more than sound bites.

They really shouldn't have more than 3 on at a time.

I don't think he's dumb enough to do it before, but after, should he win, god forbid? With 4 years to go? I can see runaway/slippery slope escalation happening easily, and he certainly appears eager enough to throw down with Iran.

The countries we need to invade are in Central America. Instead of the them coming to the US illegally, let's bring the US to them.

Congress critters (of both parties) are content to let the POTUS take the blame/credit for almost everything. That political strategy (keeping everything as "an issue") rewards the congress critters (of both parties) with a re-election rate of over 90%. That is pretty much perfection in career politician terms.

But I don't know if that would change much if we just elected different Republicans and Democrats. That's the problem, the system only offers us those two choices.

I'm most looking forward to Hickenlooper on night 2, and hoping he has some breakout moments. I'm also going to pay close attention to Bennet and Buttigieg.

On night 1 I'll be watching Ryan and Delaney and hoping they do well.

Remember the Kasich/Hickenlooper rumors a while back? Would like to see that ticket. I'm also interested in Delaney. He needs to make an impact now or there's zero chance.

You see, with comments like that Independents or moderates aren't going to vote for you. Say all the bad things you want about Trump but he does not have a hard on to invade Iran. That's just nonsense.

Many seem solidly convinced that Trump is the boogie man and will therefore vote for whoever the DNC offers up. If the DNC falls for that line of thinking then even Comrade Bernie, Mayor Alfred E. Newman or Joe "the gaffer" Biden stands a decent chance of getting the DNC nod and we the sheeple get 4 more years of Trump on an even bigger ego trip.
