The Dark Secret of America’s WWII German Death Camps

Interesting how much bull**** you can read here what would be a crime in Germany if you publish it. "denying Nazi cruelties". Some may say that are no laws for a liberal Democracy in the sense of "free speech", but I´m quite happy that we have them to keep the idiots mouthes shut. Although I´m quite liberal in other topics...

SS officers saw combat beside their troops. The Waffen-SS were combat troops. They were nasty bastards but to imply that they were just prison guards is to revise history to fit your prejudices. Lots of them were conscripts and volunteers from occupied territory, Ukraine for example, and they were guilty of horrible atrocities but they were combat troops nonetheless. In the west and the eastern fronts.

The Waffen SS were the most fanatical of the military Nazis. All german troops committed atrocities, but the SS made it an art. Combat was their last assignment.

the SS were in two groups the Waffen SS were elite fighting units where the officers were expected to lead from the front and then their was the 2nd branch the Allgemeine SS who were prison guards and those germans that worked in factories dedicated to manufacture goods, munitions tanks etc for the Waffen SS and Allgemeine SS

and in regards to war crimes the western allies committed many against captured German prisoners killing them in cold blood after they had surrendered ... Eisenhower himself instructed soldiers to kill POWs if taking prisoners slowed down there advance many young germans were taken and executed by the british behind Sword Beach something they had good experience of doing in there colonies

BS. Ike never gave those orders, tho I wish he had.

still war crimes to execute prisoners .... American's didn't like it when the 12th SS reciprocated at Malmedy ... and lets not forget the mass rape of French women by US troops in Normandy

Pure and utter BS. There was no mass rape at Normandy, and the decision at Malmedy was based solely on the need for speed in the attack. Prisoners would have held the Germans back. Most of the victims at Malmedy were black, cooks, support staff and so on. The germans thought the Americans wouldn't get upset about a "few black servants." American troops heard about the massacre through the grapevine within a day of its discovery and no mention was made of the racial composition of the victims. It didn't matter.

Alfons,.......Churchill is the one not laughing in the picture Anthony Beavor indentifies was at Yalta when Joe said his soldiers would rape every German woman age 8 - 92.

Horse manure.

A far more balanced viewpoint on what happened can be found in the WikiPedia article regarding the camps in question located here: Rheinwiesenlager.

No doubt, this was a period of WW2 history that America would like to forget. But, the exaggerations in this thread-leader article are highly debatable. Of course, wildly exaggerated deaths than actually occurred is always a good way to attract attention.

War is hell. We all know that. Yes, the American forces that were in control of these camps were at fault. But, the soldiers had just come out of a very bitter war and there was very little kind-sentiment for their German adversaries.

Anyway, the story as posted in this thread's title comment is factually wrong as regards the numbers of deaths incurred. This is a bit closer to the truth (as excerpted from the above linked WikiPedia article:
In 2003, historian Richard Dominic Wiggers argued that the Allies violated international law regarding the feeding of enemy civilians, and that they both directly and indirectly caused the unnecessary suffering and death of large numbers of civilians and prisoners in occupied Germany, guided partly by a spirit of postwar vengeance when creating the circumstances that contributed to their deaths.
The death toll was nonetheless unacceptable, and it's sad that though not "buried in history" that most of the world did not know what had happened in the West German prisoner camps. And neither will we ever know what really happened to the German soldiers who fought and were captured by the Russians on the Eastern Front ...

SS Officers rarely saw combat, they were at the camps.

I stand by my opinions. I don't forgive enemies. One of the benefits of not being Christian. Don't ever compare a german to me. In fact, don't compare yourself to me. Americans who fought for the Germans during the war when captured by Americans were shot for being traitors.
Nonsense.

His name is Beevor, I have all his books. In which book can I find that quote?

Oh FFS...

SS Officers led SS Truppen in the Waffen SS which were involved in many of the fiercest battles of the war.

38 divisions by 1945..... Kinda hard to command an SS Division in the field from a camp.

Don't forget that you are talking to a man who claims that Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger once had a fist fight over one of his aunt's dumplings. He also claims to have taken tickets at a rock festival that never took place.

Wow 9 pages and still hasn't been flushed

Actually my father lived in a British prison camp for six months on the North Sea after the war was over. He said it was tough, but never mentioned British atrocities. He did mention that British soldiers would mess with the Germans by lighting up cigarettes, taking a puff or two, then tossing it on the ground; in order to watch the Germans scramble after the cigarette for entertainment. He mentioned that there was like one water spigot for a thousand prisoners, and not much food. My father resorted to searching for seagull eggs along the beach.

Non-sequitur responses are a sure sign of surrender.

Do you have ANY clue as to the structure and manning of the Wermacht and/or Waffen SS?

Surrender what?

Yes. And are you familiar with the concept an officer must be trained to make decisions or he isn't an officer? Structure means nothing if the materials can't sustain. Calling deer tigers doesn't make a doe a tigress.

And more babble indicating that you can't intelligently answer the questions posed to you.

Why not do the adult thing and admit you spoke of things you did not understand.

I apologize for speaking over your head with historical references beyond your ken.

The Soviets you love so much committed far worse crimes......which is why Germans fled en masse towards the Western Allies as fast as they could.

Agreed.

SOme of the biggest Russian victories in the War other than the battle of Stalingrad was when they kicked Waffen SS ass in Finland, the Baltics and Northwestern Russia outside Leningrad.

Idiots came without winter clothes.

That's what happens when you buy into a system like Nazism....the entire ideology promotes stupidity on a large scale.
