The Charlottesville Lie (Short Video)

...... two days later.....

NO that is not True!

Once again...

“Excuse me, they didn’t put themselves down as neo-Nazis, and you had some very bad people in that group. But you also had people that were very fine people on both sides. You had people in that group – excuse me, excuse me, I saw the same pictures you did. You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down of, to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name.”

After another question at that press conference, Trump became even more explicit:

“I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and white nationalists because they should be condemned totally.”

Trump Didn't Call Neo-Nazis 'Fine People.' Here's Proof. | RealClearPolitics

August 17.

There were liberals and conservatives at Charlottesville. Some favored tearing down the statue of Robert E Lee, some didn't. These people weren't the problem.

Antifa and the Nazis were the problem. The two groups having this make believe struggle, pretending to fight. One of the Nazis drove his car into a crowd of peaceful liberals, killing a woman.

Yes, I believe that when Trump said, "there were peaceful people on both sides", he meant the liberals and conservatives, not antifa or the Nazis.

This is the best article I've seen in terms of laying-out a timeline:

Here’s The Complete Timeline Of Trump’s Statements on Charlottesville | Daily Wire

Trump is evasive in condemning neo-Nazis and White Nationalist and does his best to make sure the blame is shared all around.

Of course, there is a natural ambiguity in Trump speech that leaves what he means by what he says dangling until he later clarifies what he said and thereby brings further ambiguity to quite properly obfuscate any understanding of his use of the English language.

This is going to be the wound that Trumpists are going to pick at. Every Trumpist is a shameful blot on America. There is no comparison between nazis and the counter demonstrators

Nasty hateful attack on people who voted for a different candidate.
Pushing crap propaganda every single day. The left are ones lying about what happened....... Open your eyes fox

Democrats and their media are going to wear this badly during the election.

They’ve pushed a massive lie, and Trump is an expert at causing pain (remember Felonious Bill and the women he abused at the debates?).

Trump is not a spineless hair piece like Romney. He’s been smashed wrongfully, and will come back and ensure the liars get their deserved due.

My bet is Trump is going to shove this deep down the throat of the Goebbels Media and the Democrat opponent in the most public way possible. Because Leftists will continue to push The Big Lie... and when he lands his counter, all I can say is... OUCH!

Enjoy.

I would imagine the false Trump allegations are going to cause a heated discussion between Trump and Biden should the latter become the Democratic nominee. Biden is clinging to the false narrative which did originate with anti-Trump leftists and pundits.

...... two days later.....

The day of the attack!
"We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides," Trump said during a short statement from his private golf club in New Jersey. "It has been going on for a long time in our country -- not Donald Trump, not Barack Obama. It has been going on for a long, long time. It has no place in America."

"no matter our color, creed, religion or political party, we are all Americans first."
"We love our country, we love our God, we love our flag, we are proud of our country, we are proud of who we are," he said. "So, we want to get this situation straightened out in Charlottesville and we want to study it, and we want to see what we are doing wrong as a country where things like this can happen."

What are those "many sides"?

The left is like a sponge that sops up any statement that reinforces their hatred of Trump. As we have seen since the 2016 election, they can only quote the mindlessness of leftist media outlets, completely unaware of the role bias plays into their narrative and furthermore, they don't care.

What are those "many sides"?

Trump has given press conferences and speeches where white supremacist bigotry has been condemned.
He does not nor has he ever taken the SIDE of these haters, but you go ahead and sop up leftist media punditry and try to pass it off as factual information. I don't care...

Huh? Why didn't your answer my question, instead of going off on an unhinged rant about me believing the media?

Anyone with a modicum of intellectual honesty knows Trump was referring to the demonstrators who were not affiliated with the neo nazis and Antifa.

What I don't truly don't understand is how anyone after watching the actual footage could come away believing any differently. I also find it absurd how the people that are under the delusion he was referencing neo nazis with the "very fine people" people on comment on both sides somehow don't take issue with violent Antifa being referred to good people as well.

Bottom line, anyone who pushes this false narrative is either a liar, a disingenuous hack or quite frankly a moron.

Maybe because Antifa didn't kill anyone?

You obviously did not Understand the simple facts presented in the video.

What facts are those? The video purposely leaves out comments made by Trump before August 15th to paint the picture that "the media" is purposefully omitting information. Within the video there is only one actual source and it's a NYTimes article used to support the idea that there were "good people" on the side of the white supremacists (The video cites the NYTimes as the only source while simultaneously accusing them and others of malicious lies ). Why doesn't the video cite any actual articles to support the main claim? It's also interesting that the video fails to mention that the Unite the Right rally was literally planned by white supremacists and advertised as such ("VIP" attendees included wonderful names such as Richard Spencer, David Duke, Jason Kessler, The Daily Stormer...).

So trump condemns neo nazis specifically and you specifically decide to form your own narrative and ignore his actual words.

Which narrative is that? I'm responding to PragerU video and am pointing out that all the media orgs. listed in the video did in fact report on Trump condemning neo-nazis.

What you, like all liberals (see my sig), are pretending not to know is that the Times and all the other anti-Trump media organizations are part of the multimedia echo chamber. One outlet (the Times in this case) publishes a spinning hit job and all the rest cite that outlet and add their own spin and hyperbole. This all adds up to one massive, dishonest attack on Trump.

This is undeniable (unless the denier is dishonest). We've seen this play out over and over and over in the past four years.

But hey...go ahead. Continue to make up **** about those who point out this coordinated effort. It won't change the facts about the actions of the Trump hating media.

You don't like "PragerU?"

Well here are his very first comments after the incident:

No "Very fine people" comments...Hmmm well here is the video where that comment is made:

That is from the President's interview where the "Nazi's are very fine people" is supposed to have come from. He is VERY CLEAR what he meant and who he was referring to.

So you are wrong and the FACTS show he never called Nazi's and White Supremacists "Very fine people." :coffeepap:

Where did I say Trump called Nazi's and White Supremacist's "very fine people."

The PragerU video has a specific main claim and they provide nothing to back it up. The media reported on Trump's comments as they happened, including his condemnation of white supremacists/neonazi's.

The PragerU video purposely leaves out his comments before August 15th for a reason after all.

Also, the video makes it seem like all of the listed media outlets were running headlines that said something akin to "Trump calls neonazi's very fine people." (Oddly enough they don't include any actual articles supporting this claim..)

We do have plenty of articles from ALL of the media outlets accused in the video where said outlets point out Trump condemning neonazi's/white supremacists as it happened. Remember that it took days for Trump to denounce White Supremacists/Neo Nazi's and he only did so after pressure was applied to him from his own party.

Trump drew a moral equivalency between the two groups and did not condemn white supremacists/neonazi's until days later. Anyone who has actually dug through the footage of the rally and who is familiar with the attendees/planning knows how absurd that is. The rally was literally setup by White Supremacists and there's no changing that fact.

You can tell the bias of the video "refuting" PragerU because the commenter falls back on Trump condemning violence on "many sides" (which includes the White Nationalists) by saying "he's drawing a moral equivelancy"

Yes, Antifa thugs are morally equal to members of far right hate groups, they believe in violence to achieve political ends.

in general news reporting, however they've had no problem repeating the "very fine people" lie.
Here's an ABC news Headline implying the lie

Trump lashes out at 'alt-left' in Charlottesville, says 'fine people on both sides' - ABC News

The New York Times repeats it here

Trump Gives White Supremacists an Unequivocal Boost - The New York Times

Another ABC Headline

Trump defends 2017 'very fine people' comments, calls Robert E. Lee 'a great general' - ABC News

These are clearly written to give the reader a false impression.

None of this changes the fact that the PragerU video is lying. The first article you posted literally says:
Trump made a second statement on Monday from the White House, in which he condemned hate groups, including the Ku Klux Klan and neo-Nazis.
This article was posted August 15th. The article does point out that Trump is drawing an equivalence, and there's nothing wrong with that because he absolutely is.

The second article is a piece pointing out that trump is equating activists protesting against the Unite the Right rally with the attendees of said rally. In the article it literally says:
“I’ve condemned neo-Nazis,” Mr. Trump told reporters, who interrupted him repeatedly when he seemed to equate the actions of protesters on each side.

The third article literally says:
"You also had some very fine people on both sides," Trump said in 2017. "You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down, of to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name. You had people -- and I'm not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists; they should be condemned totally -- you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists."

All 3 articles point out that Trump condemned Neonazi's/white supremacists.

Note how I said headline, and writing the article to give different impressions. Changing context to change meaning.

Another one lost to the dark side of the Goebbels Media.

It’s a shame when the truth fails to penetrate the titanium skulls of Leftists.

Oh well...

PS. You did not provide one iota of evidence to disprove the video. Nothing. Nada. Nichts.

If they feel Trump was wrong, that is proof enough for them. Facts, they don't need no stinkin facts

Note how I said headline, and writing the article to give different impressions. Changing context to change meaning.

All 3 articles point out Trump condemning neonazi's and white supremacists. You are correct that the articles point out Trump drawing an equivalence between the protesters and counter protesters. That is a far cry from the video's claim that these outlets are claiming Trump said "Neonazi's are very fine people" and ran headlines with that claim after Trump's statement condemning them.
