The Amazing Trump, makes jobs vanish !

Re: Trump's tariffs on Solar, jobs vanishing

Yes we do. The federal government subsidizes about 15 billion and the states another 5 billion. Of that 20 billion about 80% goes to oil and gas and 20% to coal.

Try informing yourself about the facts instead of just blurting out what you want to be true as if it's a fact.

(you) this article is counting the money paid to utilities for "poor" families, that otherwise would have their utilities cut off as a subsidy to the oil & gas industry? please explain how that works in your brain....because it doesnt reconcile in mine

Re: Trump's tariffs on Solar, jobs vanishing

That's ONE counter. Just an example of the fact that the sun doesn't always shine. Solar panels are extremely inefficient. Think about your little individual solar light in your driveway...they rarely work...give me low voltage electric lighting any day.

Really? The solar lights in the driveway? You really think those are the equivalent to industrial solar panels? I am not saying that solar doesn't have its flaws, but no energy source is perfect. Fossil fuels are definitely not perfect and have their own inefficiencies, particularly when it comes to the cost of extraction.

Re: Trump's tariffs on Solar, jobs vanishing

OK. I will agree. Let's cut off the subsidies to the farmers and to the oil companies.

And...

Let's only do international trade with countries that cut off subsidies to THEIR industries.

In other words, don't trade with anybody

Don't forget, we have a $20 trillion market. We can trade with ourselves.

But other countries WANT a piece of our market. If they won't open up theirs...get rid of their subsidies...get rid of tariffs...etc...well, the choice is theirs.

We would have to bring ALL manufactoring back.. oh.. and then there just so happens to be the issue of getting raw materials. Oh my.

Tighten your belt for a little while...then watch the world economy take off when all nations engage in free, fair and reciprocal trade with each other.

The one glaring flaw is, like wind power it isn't efficient. I'll tell you what though, my electric driveway lights have been working for more than a decade. ANY solar lights that I've purchased barely last a season.

Re: Trump's tariffs on Solar, jobs vanishing

Oh please. Yes, there is some pollution caused by the making of the solar panels, but as soon as they are built they last several years without releasing any pollution. However, gas and coal must continuously pump out pollution. This whole 'solar energy pollutes' argument is ridiculous.

Seeing as how bad said pollutants are, I would have to disagree.
At the current rate coal and gas energy are being tuned out at a decent rate. With hybrids and electric cars becoming more of a norm.

I would just like it if we had a method to reliably dispose of the chemicals released from solar waste.
