I just heard him say ( and he's said it many times ) that (paraphrased) "we're collecting billions and billions from tariffs and we're using the money to give to the farmers".

This is the amazing stupidity and ignorance of a president. No other president is as dumb as Trump.

Both Hoover and Bush were much brighter than Trump, and it took them a full 8 years to destroy the country.

We can expect Trump to break those records. They only wrecked the economy, he's destroying the fabric of AMerica, it's standing in the world and the world leaders consider him to be a fool. Putin knows he's a "useful idiot".

Does he still say it's China paying the tariffs?

Oh just grand.. the daily dose of I really hate the president! :spin::eek::cuckoo:

“The passage of the 2019 Farm Bill is good news because it provides a strong safety net for farmers and ranchers, who need the dependability and certainty this legislation affords," Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said in a statement after the bill passed the House.

Congress has voted for an $867 billion farm bill with strong bipartisan support

Yes, farmers need a strong safety net BECAUSE of the tariffs and trade war.

Farmers have already suffered the consequences of the administration’s trade war, as China slapped retaliatory tariffs on U.S. agricultural exports amid the broader trade spat between the countries.

Well, it's significant because dairy farmers in particular have been hit by retaliation from the Trump tariffs.

WASHINGTON - The Senate on Tuesday, Dec. 11, overwhelmingly approved an $867 billion farm bill as Congress appeared poised to pass legislation that would help an agriculture industry battered by President Donald Trump's trade war.

Safety nets are Socialism.

Farmers need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and deal with the tariffs without welfare from the government.

Says the guy who can simply go to the store and fill his refrigerator.

Kind of like the push to stop killing cows because you can just go the a grocery store and by all the beef you want.

Somebody is pay the tariffs and we know it's not the consumer. The CPI tells us that. That means it's one of two...or a combination of two...forces: The Chinese and the multinational corporations.

1. The Chinese...they are paying by reducing prices from their own companies for their exports and by devaluing their own currency.

2. The multinationals...they are paying by sucking up the cost of the tariffs on stuff they produce in China and export to the US.

So...the question to be asked now is this: How long will they be able to sustain this? We know the multinationals won't be able to keep this up. Many of them are already moving...or preparing to move...out of China. That hurts China...a lot. So how about China? Can they keep it up while bleeding cash, continually devaluing their currency and losing manufacturing? Maybe they think they can hold out until 2020 in hopes Trump loses the election? And if he wins? Then they are screwed.

With all that, Americans are working. American manufacturers are producing. Foreign companies are building...in the US. Wages are increasing. Prices remain low. Inflation remains low.

All thanks to Trump.

Yeah...I'd call that brilliant.

It reminds me of the old saying "We are losing money on every customer, but we will make up for it with volume"

And the right always complains when people are receiving food assistance. All the while, American farmers are receiving entitlements, why is that? It's not okay for people to receive assistance to feed their families but its okay for farmers to receive billions of dollars in aid? In my opinion, it's the biggest form of corporate welfare in the US because the largest 15 percent of farm businesses receive 85 percent of the subsidies. The general public may believe that the majority of subsidies go to helping small family operations, the primary beneficiaries are instead the largest producers of commodities like corn, soybeans, wheat, cotton, and rice.

Wealthy growers are paid even in good years, and may receive drought aid when there’s no drought. It’s become so bizarre that some homeowners lucky enough to have bought land that once grew rice now have subsidized lawns. Fortunes have been paid to Fortune 500 companies and even gentlemen farmers like David Rockefeller.

The title of the worlds shortest/smallest book; it's kinda like one of those books you get in a Cracker Jacks box … only smaller … a lot smaller.
