The 2018 Major Leage Baseball Thread

If anyone remembers (I do because I was there) Roberts made the same mistake with the same pitcher last year in Game 2. I think he should be fired.

Donald Trump hit the nail with a hammer tonight:

In that situation I would have kept Hill in the game. A) Brock Holt, Jackie Bradley, and Mitch Moreland are all lefty's. You are facing the bottom of the Red Sox Lineup.

Madson has been a disaster this entire season.

Anyone see Machado blow a bubble while running to first, step on Pearce's heal, and pat the catcher on the head after striking out?

..... I LOVE IT!

And now the Yankees are the favorites to sign him:

There are only a few teams willing to spend at least $300 million for the mercurial star and villain of this postseason. The New York Yankees are the front-runners, while the Philadelphia Phillies also plan to be in the bidding.

“I do know this,’’ says former third baseman Alex Rodriguez, now an analyst for Fox Sports and ESPN, “I’m very, very bullish on long-term stock on Manny Machado. If owners or front offices try to judge his character by the handful of things that he’s done, that’s a huge mistake.

“Whoever signs him will win big. Real big.’’

Yeah, starters don't go much pass 6-7 innings anymore. And Hill, who's 38? 39? years old was showing signs he was tiring.

I'm a Mets fan and have been bitching about their bad BP for years, but it's the game nowadays, unless deGromm or Verlander, or Scherzer or Kershaw is on the mound by the 7th inning managers go to the BP. I can't get too mad at Roberts, his pitcher was tiring and the Dodgers had a 4 run lead. BP needs to get 6-9 outs with a 4 run lead.

So Roberts apparently thought Hill was telling him he was tired. But afterward, though Hill acknowledged asking Roberts to watch him, he said he felt fine.

"We went hitter to hitter in the seventh, ultimately that was part of it," said Hill. "I felt like I was throwing the ball well, though."

How?d he manage this? Dave Roberts? decision takes Dodgers from a sure win to a 3-1 Series hole - Los Angeles Times

1. The linked headline is stupid. There is no "sure win" against a team as offensively potent as the Red Sox.
2. Dodgers are at risk of becoming the Buffalo Bills of the World Series.

Must have been Atlanta. They had a run similar to what the Dodgers are in the middle of now.

Thats not gonna help matters.

Gotta really suck for the Dodgers if they lost the world series 2 years in a row.
When's the last time that happened in MLB??

David Price supposedly made a few changes in his delivery and its paying off.

He has also made the transition to more of a finesse pitcher

If Sox win the series tonight, Steve Pearce for MVP??

I can't imagine it ending 2-1. But, I seriously doubt the Dodgers will pull this game out.

Edit: spoke too soon: 3-1
