The 2018 Major Leage Baseball Thread

Definitely rooting for Dodgers....but reasonably sure the Red Sox will win in 5.

Yeah, over the weekend I was sitting at a bar with my Mets shirt on and surrounded by a bunch of Yankee fans... So obviously the discussion turned to baseball. When the WS talk started even they had to admit the Red Sox are a freakin machine this year.

Best team evah!!!!! Just don't bring Kimbrel in. Not sure my heart can take it.

To this point I have been neutral about this WS. But the presence of the dirty and dangerous Manny Machado on the Dodgers' roster tips the balance in favor of the Red Sox.

National League in 6, just before 1st pitch.

Sale at almost 70 pitches in the 3rd inning? Tie game.. Sox bullpen isn't the best. Might be interesting.

Just an interesting note:

Teams that win 4 games in a world series have won the series 100% of the time.

We got 2 Dutchies on the field in World Series, how cool is that??

Somewhat incorrect: From 1919 thru 1921 the teams that won 5 games won the world series. Also the first world series
1903 was won by the redsox 5 games to 3. Therefore teams that won 5 games have won the world series 3.5% of the time.

Somewhat correct in that every team that has won 4 games has won every World Series as the times when 5 wins were
required the losing team never won 4 games, 3 wins was the most they got.

The series is going about as expected but is being made worse by Dodger player-management doing the unexpected.

Dodgers better get their shyte together or this thing will be over in 4

They sat their hottest player. Now, even if they put him back in, he'll be cold. Mismanagement at its finest.

They might win game 3, but they are done in 5.

The secret to beating the Dodgers is starting a lefty against them. LOL... I understand platooning, but last night the Dodgers sat 4 of their top HR hitters against Price. Seriously, it's the WS and Price isn't Sandy Koufax, so the Dodgers sitting some of their best lefty hitters was analytics at it's worse.

The Dodgers rely too much on analytics. Sure, it got them this far but sometimes you just have to say what the **** and go with your gut. (i.e not use alex ****ing wood or ryan ****ing madson).

I almost get what they were trying to do. When I was 8, I was in Judo. I thought of myself as a bad ass, and I usually won. Well, in this one tournament, I get to the championship round and there is this beast facing me. ****er had to be 6" taller and 50 pounds heavier. So, my uncle gives me a strategy that made no freaking sense at all. But, I listened. So, I did it.

I charged the fat ****, got a point for attacking, and then fell on my stomach and made sure the lard ass could not roll me over. He couldn't. I believe I had to do this a couple times before the match time expired. But, first place trophy was mine.

I suspect the LA manager sees the BoSox as that fat lard. And, he knows his team stands not a chance by playing conventionally. So, he tried the the trick, like I did. Problem is his plan didn't work like mine did.

or how about benching two of your best players.

ugh. Bellinger is so good but imo is still a young player. Must be stressful managing him.

Holy ****, Eovaldi just threw a 101 MPH right down broadway!!!!!

Some team will pay him stupid money and he will be a terrible contract, maybe worse than Matt Garza. He throws in the high 90s but does not strike out a lot of hitters. His pitches do not have a lot of movement.

I can't believe the Dodgers tied the game. They are in a great situation to win it with JD Martinez out and Eduardo Nunez hobbled.

I am not sure if the Red Sox have a starter ready tomorrow.

Are they going with Chris Sale on 3-day rest? And what about game 5? Price and Evoldi pitched tonight.

Alex Cora made a dumb decision.

He could have walked Puig and pitched to Austin Barnes, who is like a career .200 hitter.

What a blunder.
