The 2018 Major Leage Baseball Thread

I HATE the ESPN games.

Sunday afternoon should be for baseball, but thanks to ESPN the Mets-Nats game won't be on until 8pm tonight.

Booooo

I like it. Nice to have a single game get showcased on Sunday night.

Wonder if the Nats will lose again and go under .500.

Giancarlo Stanton is the easy out in the Yankees’ lineup. I wonder if they’re starting to think “this guy isn’t worth anything close to what we’re paying him”.

I disagree because it's Sunday. IMO Sunday is afternoon baseball. I hear what you are saying, it's the only game that night and it's showcased.. But on Sundays it bothers the traditionalist in me.

And their announcers suck. Gary, Ron & Keith are wonderful to listen to.

Ron and Gary are the best in all of baseball. But I can do without Keith's constant whining and tales about how much better the game was when he played. His spiel has gotten old.

I really like Keith. Funny stories. He does whine a bit but he is a perfect fit. Just my opinion.

This young man Ohtani for the Angels is the best baseball story going back to the season where Sosa and McGwire battled for the record.

At the plate... on the mound .... he has been terrific. This is going to be one really interesting season.

So far that guy is spectacular! I don’t get my hopes up though this early in the season, especially for a rookie. So far, so good though!

I don't think Jack is enjoying this series. GRAND SLAM BABY!

Yeah but Harvey has to stop throwing FAT 92 MPH fastballs right down the middle. If he don't straighten out and has a 6.5 ERA by the end of May he'll lose his starting spot.. If the Mets starters stay healthy and the team is playing good I don't see the brass having much patience with Harvey this year.

It is a bit manufactured by the Japanese media. He can't speak English so his popularity will be limited in the United States.

I wonder if in a game the Angels will start him at pitcher, will they move him to the DH position to keep him in the game?

Well, the traditionalist in me grew up with day baseball until late 1988... so I guess I never considered Sunday’s as special.

Stan the Fan is getting booed already :D

NY is a tough town. And I've seen many athletes fold in NY. But I have no doubts Stanton can handle the pressure. I'm sure he can handle ny
For sure he will. I think so too.

But there is a possibility he might have a subpar year (which is what I'm hoping for). Anything below 35 homeruns for him is an off-year

It could be a lower total than that. Maris had 61 in 61 then fell to 33 after that he only had one year with over 20 homers.
Hack Wilson had 56 in 1930 and fell to 13 homeruns the next year.

IMO 35 would still be a good year for him as long as he hits over .270.
