The 2018 Major Leage Baseball Thread

I get that as prospects they’re great. But Matt Wieters, as a prospect, was promoted to be Joe Mauer meets Barry Bonds. He never reached anywhere close to either.

I’d stay away from trading for catcher prospects.

I wanted the Yankees to trade Gary Sanchez last year.

I'll take average offensive production for good defense and someone that can work well with pitchers. Sanchez IMO has too many mental lapses on the field.

Maddon and Baez just got run. Good stuff

Next year’s White Sox rotation — Lopez, Rodon, Covey, Giolito and Shields — I’d begin Kopech in the BP

How has Giolito done? Nats gave up on him.

It’s been messy. He’s not quite there yet. He’s looked great at times. Has bad innings. The good part is he gets to the 5th or 6th without a lot of stress. This is not about winning this year, it’s about building.

Lopez can be brilliant or awful. In the #1 slot, he doesn’t get much run support. Dunning is up to AA and progressing well. All three have the Nats’ straight change.

I hate to see Abreu go but he deserves to play on a winner; now. We should fetch a lot for him.

Pirates ate the Reds for lunch; sweeping the series and shelling Harvey today.

Good thing the Yankees didn't sign Yu Darvish. What a waste of money!

Cubs Fan Steals Foul Ball From Kid But The Little Guy Still Wins

An adult Chicago Cubs fan took finders-keepers liberties at Sunday's game at

Probably a White Sox fan anyway.

Everyone knows that kids always get a foul ball, or one thrown by a player. The only one you get to keep is a homer in ball caught on the fly (and if it’s an opposing HR in Wrigley, it- or more likely another ball- gets thrown back on the field immediately).

Man, the Cubs are really making a mockery out of the game.

Joe Maddon is putting Anthony Rizzo into the game as a PITCHER. Just before the backup catcher Victor Caratini pitched a full inning.

WTF??? The score is only 7-1.

I cannot believe Gary Sanchez.

:thumbdown

Did anyone else see that?

It’s awesome.

Maddon switched out Caratini for the lefty, Rizzo, and I have no doubt they would have put Caratini back on the mound and Riz at first if the guy got on base.

Cubs really need to get Britton!

These are position players. What if they got hurt?

Shouldn't Maddon put in, actual pitchers? Imagine if the Nationals started throwing in Bryce Harper or Rendon into pitch.

Complete madness!

Just about everyone good enough to get to the major leagues pitched at least occasionally in Little League.

Mark Reynolds pitched the other night.

The Cubs are in first. The Tankees will only play one game in the postseason.

Rizzo is now tied with the best reliever in all of Cubs history in ERA, in addition to being one of the greatest Cub leadoff hitters of all time.

I’ll be watching your team in person Wednesday, 3rd base line. I’ll try to get a sign in: DP — Linc

Rizzo has just announced his pitching career is over- he will remain the Cubs all time leader in ERA and WHIP, along with a record for possibly the slowest pitcher ever, with his fastest pitch clicking in at 62 mph...

I have bigger problems on my hand. I am unsure if Aaron Boone can manage games. This guy it appears doesn't even watch the games:

Boone better bench Sanchez! Include him and prospects to the Mets for DeGrom ASAP!

Guess you’ll just have to switch to a winner.

That must be why you were watching the Cubs.

Perhaps I will:

Gary Sanchez's performance today was an embarrassment:

A dugout conversation between Yankees right-hander Luis Severino and catcher Gary Sanchez got heated on Monday night at Tropicana Field after a passed ball charged to Sanchez allowed Jake Bauers to score from second base, giving the Rays an early 1-0 lead.

Adding to the Yankees' frustration, Sanchez failed to hustle on a critical ground ball with the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth inning, securing a 7-6 Rays victory on a play that would have tied the game had Sanchez been safe at first. With the Yankees trailing, 7-6, Sanchez hit a hard grounder toward short. The Rays were in a shift, and the ball went to second baseman Daniel Robertson, who flipped to shortstop Willy Adames at second. The force was too late, but with Sanchez not hustling down the line, Adames had plenty of time to throw to Bauers at first to get Sanchez and end the game.

Turner will likely be benched for Tuesday's matchup against Milwaukee, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.

Turner attempted to bunt for a base hit during Monday's tilt, and after a poorly executed attempt, he refused to run to first base as he started launching his equipment onto the field prior to being ruled out. After the game, manager Dave Martinez stated "There's a good chance he won't play tomorrow." Expect Wilmer Difo to get the nod at shortstop with Turner likely to ride the pine Tuesday due to a lack of hustle.

Good job Nationals. Turner and Sanchez represent the millennials of MLB. Pathetic.
