Texas Republican lawmaker to Beto O'Rourke: 'My AR is ready for you'

Would you be willing to go from house to house collecting AR's or would you expect someone else to do it?

I am 70 and long ago retired from work.

What I expect to happen is there will be a voluntary buy back period which will run for a specific length of time. In the meantime we will see if the ban is having any effect on lowering the use of the weapons in mass shootings. If the shooting go noticeably down and the buy back is measurable successful, I expect it to really go no further. Now if somebody uses a banned weapon publicly - I expect it could be confiscated and the person arrested.

If you have the illegal weapon in our possession and you keep it hidden and secret, I expect little will be done by government to confiscate it.

But that is just my guess based on a law which we do not yet have.

Perfect example for when a "high" capacity magazine is needed.

WATCH: Horrifying Attack Unfolds On Man In Ilhan Omar’s District | Daily Wire

Thank you for the link.

I had previously learned about this incident at another website.

It made me sick to my stomach.

Of course, the young gentlemen will NOT receive any meaningful punishment. At the most, anger-management classes (which they will refuse to attend) and community service (which they will refuse to serve).

I prefer to remember Minneapolis the way it was when Mary Tyler Moore started her wonderful TV show each week by throwing her hat into the air.

Today, of course, some individual would probably run up and steal the hat. And even attack Ms. Moore.

I want to personally thank Beto for going on record and saying what many of us suspected all along. Democrats want to take our guns.

So for the next decade in every political contest across the country, we're going to see Beto's gun confiscation video played over and over again.

Seems people are reading too much into this. His comment is essentially another way of saying if Robert Francis wants his gun to come and get them. Molon Labe is a common phrase Pro2a people say, it isn't an actual threat but a refusal to relinquish our weapons.

I lost my mind-bet.

I thought that the FIRST response to the thread would be along the lines of "Oh he didn't really mean that he would kill him.".

Of course....because Texas.

But with the Tweeter-in-Chief shooting from the hip and making an ass of himself almost daily with emotionally moronic messages, why wouldn't his faithful flock of fanatics follow their demagogue's example? Bad leadership inspires bad disciples. I'm surprised that the cult hasn't started spraying their skin orange yet.

- They have long clung to using his slogan terminology to show their devotion.

- Trump tweets a denigration, and the flock repeats. You see it here on this site.

- They refuse to accept that the world's criticism is legitimate as they blindly support anything he say's or does without actual thought.

- They adopt the notion that they are victims of a world that is out to get them as Trump protects them from "fake news."

- And GOP leaders have never been as nasty as they have been since Trump began providing them license to do so.

Demagogue = "A political leader who seeks support by appealing to the desires and prejudices of ordinary people rather than by using rational argument."

Cult = "A system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object."

So, yes...cult.

"Come and Take It" is a historic quote from when Texas declared it's independence from Mexico. Any real Texan would know this, "Bato Male" obviously does not.

GONZALES COME AND TAKE IT CANNON | The Handbook of Texas Online| Texas State Historical Association (TSHA)

Indeed it is.

I mean what could have been more justified than people rebelling against their legal government because their legal government insisted that they obey the legally passed laws which they had agreed to obey in order to persuade the legal government to allow them to immigrate and to induce the legal government to give them lots and lots of free land?

[Or don't you know what the Texican Rebellion was actually all about?]

It is fighting words but so were Beto's.

Fair enough, I can see that. But Beto was picking a more legal fight, one that needs to be fought and settled in the ballot box.

Molon labe?

So, move along. It’s all OK.

It was an idle threat, not a real one, according to the secret code gun nuts talk to each other in.

It appears that, to some, the term "idle threat" means something like "If you attempt to do __[fill in the blank]__ I will kill you, but as long as you don't attempt to __[fill in the blank]__ nothing will happen so that threat can just sit there and idle until you do __[fill in the blank]__ in which case it will be active - BUT since it is currently idling there is nothing to see and it isn't really a threat RIGHT NOW.".

Simply walk away as it is obvious the man cares about his property and is willing to fight to protect it.

I guess that is a reasonable answer, but shows that you weren't all that committed to your cause.
If I'm on the receiving side of that statement, I go full on the offence before the phrase is complete. ( I will probably just get beat up. But that's not the point....lol )
If I gotta say a phrase like come take them. I expect to be hit or shot or something, without delay. If I want to take a more mature course of action I use words in a manner that more respectful. Which is how I personally like to be.....just an opinion not a judgment or declaration of what is right or legal.

Beto is the one drawing the line in the sand.

True but he's obviously trying to use legal means....and that's a different game altogether.

The famous "cold dead hands" comment was about refusal. "My AR is ready for you sounds like a threat." If you want to make it clear that you won't relinquish your guns, say so plainly. Not it a threatening manner as this guy did.

Most of us in Texas know exactly what he means and I assume they do in Tennessee also. Beto just lost a huge amount of support here in Texas, that he can count on.

When people see MAGA hats as a threat we’ve gone way, WAY ‘round the bend of reason.

The comment was not a threat in any way, shape or form. It was an acknowledgement that if the government chooses to confiscate firearms from the law abiding public there will be a war.

Texas Republican lawmaker to Beto O'Rourke: 'My AR is ready for you'

Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Republican Texas state Rep. Briscoe Cain drew fierce ire Thursday night for a gun-related tweet that many considered to be a death threat against Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke.

Twitter took the comment down within hours because it violated a rule forbidding threats of violence and O'Rourke's campaign planned to report the tweet to the FBI, according to CNN. It's against federal law to threaten "major candidates" for president.

The online conflict came on the heels of two mass shootings in Texas and on the night that O'Rourke debated fellow Democratic presidential candidates in Houston. O'Rourke, a former congressman from El Paso, touted his proposed mandatory buyback program for assault weapons at the debate and said "hell yes" he plans to take Americans' AR-15s and AK-47s.

"My AR is ready for you Robert Francis," Cain tweeted, calling O'Rourke by his full first and middle names.

COMMENT:-

Taking enlightened political discourse to new levels, eh wot?

Of course, he "was only exercising his First Amendment Rights in defence of his Second Amendment Rights" so there is "Nothing to see here folks, move along, move along." - right?

You clearly missed the context behind Briscoe Cain's comment.
It's laughable that Beto and his ilk would believe Cain issued a death threat but I have to say Beto plays a victim to a "T".

Beto has no power to take anyone's gun, and never will, and that was the context behind Cain's tweet.

Most of us in Texas know exactly what he means and I assume they do in Tennessee also. Beto just lost a huge amount of support here in Texas, that he can count on.

I've noticed a divide in Tennessee. Not about support for the second amendment so much as details like open carry. It makes people uneasy when someone who is not a policeman walks around Walmart with a sidearm, for example. People here were generally supportive when Walmart put a stop to that. I don't agree with Beto about confiscating guns from law abiding citizens, but I also don't think ratcheting up the tension with bellicose statements on either side is helpful.

Agree. People in this country should be more concerned with another of Beto's despicable retorts where he called the POTUS a white supremacist who poses a mortal threat to people of color.

Right :lamo He will have to move to another state before he wins another office. Beto is an idiot.

Good. He can get the crossover vote. Republicans love idiots, as well exemplified by the current occupant of the White House.

I would not rule out "idiots" going far into the process. Trump attributes should have disqualified him, yet he somehow managed to be elected.

In all seriousness, you are grossly underestimating his political talent, likely because you don't like his politics. You need to separate one from the other.

He could well be the VP nominee of the Democratic party, particularly if Warren, Harris or Booker wins the nomination. Otherwise, becoming the voice of gun reform is a shrewd political move. As I pointed out earlier, the Republicans stubborn inaction on the issue will likely backfire on them, with pendulum swinging hard to the reforming side. Beto could we benefit politically when that happens.

Lets see....

Idiot leftist cuck Beta O Fakelatino threatens without foundation to seize the property and violate the Constitutional rights of 120 million Americans....a state representative lets him know that that would be an extraordinarily bad idea...and leftist are ****ting themselves over not the ****head threatening to violate peoples Constitutional rights, but the citizen that responds in defense of the Constitution.

Yep...that seems about right.

True and I have been saying he is running for VP for a while now. But he will hurt and not help the ticket in several different states including Texas. If the Dems want to flip Texas , and they do, they should treat Beto like the plague. This is Texas not Colorado.

Bingo, this Texas Independent will never cast a vote for a Dem Candidate if Beto is on the ticket.

Twitter is the cesspool of america. I expect a comment like that from an average Joe. A political statesman should know better.

He's a Republican. So, probably not.

Trump violates our constitutional rights every day. I don't hear any of the cucks on the Right whine about that.
