Teenage Prostitution

I personally know a few call girls so I'm judging your post as ignorant to the facts and I wish you a good day :)

Then you also know it is a multibillion dollar business and will stay so as long as it is illegal and in the shadows. It is the pimps and traffickers who profit as long as it stays illegal. Which of the two are you? Protecting your turf?

The girls I know don't have pimps. They're independent workers.

The local police in Antwerp has its own prostitution team, whose
job it is to ensure that prostitution remains manageable and
controllable. They also monitor the safety of prostitutes and the
conditions in which they work.
If you have any reports, complaints or questions about safety,
criminality and sexual exploitation, you can contact the
prostitution team at the local police in Antwerp.

Unintended consequences:

Federal government shuts down and bans Backpage and all internet sites pertaining to prostitution.
Prostitutes invade social media and dating sites advertising for Johns. Feds asleep at the wheel.
Teenage females watch and learn, quickly.
Six months later, millions of female teenagers on social media and dating sites are selling nudes and sex for the price of a hamburger through cashapp. I’ve seen several “bring me McDonalds for oral” posts, smh.

Huge win for the Johns of the world, huge loss for parents and society. If you have a teenage daughter I would suggest you start your investigation today...

Human devils have promoted and protected pornography from its beginning. They have called it "free speech" and "art" and other things to make it seem more appropriate and acceptable. Wickedness is like a cancerous disease. It spreads and gets worse over time. Modern pornography and the damage it is doing is the result of very wicked allowances made years ago. Prostitution is also very wicked and does great damage to people, as does all forms of sexual sins. America is becoming more sexually corrupt and degenerate along with the rest of the world as we approach the end of this present life on earth.

We have a different forum for religious ranting.

Is this a sexual fantasy of yours ?

pimps also make money if prostitution is legal.

Yes, that is what they whisper in your ear. If they don't have pimps, they have madams. Same thing. "I work for a service, I'm independent." Sure. You can call a pimp a driver, it's the same thing. Stop being so naive.

It's not about you.

Do show us where.

Laws and enforcement can put pimps out of business. Everything depends on structure and enforcement, as well as high penalties for pimps.

When Craig's List was active, the pimps, as they were arrested, were complaining to police that Craig's was biting into their business, big time. The pimps were getting arrested when they did something violent, and then they were back on the streets in a day or two, just like the girls. The public mostly didn't complain because the sordidness was removed from the streets. The police didn't complain for the same reason, and they could use it as a tool to find runaways as pictures were posted. It made it easier to find the underage workers.

Thailand, for one

Bars hire girls who are prostitutes. Men come to the bar to meet girls. They talk to them and buy them lady drinks, and the girls get a cut of the price. If the man wants to take the girl out of the bar, they pay a bar fine to the bar. The premise being that the bar fine is compensation for taking the girl away from the bar where she can no longer make money for the bar by getting men to pay for lady drinks

You do understand that bar is functioning as a pimp does. Who recruits the girls, how many are forced into the trade and by who? No one grows up hoping to be a prostitute. The failure in Thailand is twofold, its cultural lack of respect for women, and far greater, poverty. Families sell their daughters to feed the family. The girls are a commodity from the day they are born. Is that what you want here?

Yes. That was my point - making pimping illegal does not get rid of the pimps. They just structure their business in a way that their pimping becomes covert

My understanding is that there is little overt coercion in Thailand. The girls are mostly from poor backgrounds who want to help support their families

And to be clear, I am opposed to the legalization of prostitution.

We're in agreement as to how the pimping works and there underlying reasons motivating the working girls in Thailand.

The point of the conversation is how to eliminate the pimps and madams if we legalize prostitution here, understanding it is a local state issue, not Federal until interstate trafficking enters the picture.

I contend the reasons for legalization outweighs the continued criminal situation with minimal if no enforcement unless it makes for a good headline, and then all parties are back on the street almost immediately. As a $1.5 bil industry it is not going away, but we can minimize its impact, and take it out of the hands of organized criminals. It is not a question of making pimping illegal but on of how.

I am in favor of Harm Reduction

They don't have madams, either. I already said that.

You have made conclusions about individuals without knowing anything about them or their circumstances, or even knowing who they are

Yes, I have done so. I've been speaking in generalizations, however I believer those generalizations are accurate. I do understand the industry, its reach, its lack of honesty by all parties. I understand no one is independent and survives. Sure, there are the neighborhood single mom's who act temporarily, but are not true professionals, but they don't represent most of those in the industry, and they stop once they encounter a violent client.

This conversation pertained to teenage prostitutes, and like all threads took its twists and turns. It is a very rare situation to find a teenage prostitute working free and clear of a pimp. Someone turned her out to the life, a predator. In general, for purpose of discussion, specifics beyond the visible norm, won't change the overall realities of teenage prostitution nor prostitution for any age group.

No one growing says or thinks "I want to be a prostitute."

As a generalization, it works but, in this case, you were talking about specific individuals.

Generalizations are useful, but cannot be applied to specific cases with the amount of certainty you have expressed in this thread.

That's a matter of opinion.
