Support for Impeachment Declines

Whatever you need to tell yourself, I'm still not sure why you jumped on the line in the first place and started asking about my history

You do realize this isn't a personals board right? Tho I give points for your honesty in name choice

Anyway, this is where it gets boring, so have a nice day and all

No one can escape who they are. But go ahead, d, r & g.

"One doesn't have to be fat, just think fat for the occasion." Bob Fass, WBAI announcing a Fat Power Rally in Sheep Meadow Central Park 1966. More than 50k showed up, only Bob and few other of his friends could really be viewed as fat. Frank Zappa and Nico wore fat suits. Most everyone brought food to share. Most Saturday afternoons in the Spring, more than 35k showed up at Sheep Meadow. It was always a party until The Central Park Conservatory shut down Sheep Meadow for a rebuilding in 1986. Took 4 years. Today Sheep Meadow can accommodate more than 120k on a nice day. Never seen any sheep in Sheep Meadow, tho a few 2 legged goats.

I really have no idea what that has to do with anything but as usual a fascinating little tidbit of history.

I imagine it would be quite entertaining spending an evening with you. In fact I'd be happy just sitting in a corner quietly listening to the stories.

If the Democrats don't like Trump calling his impeachment a coup then they should learn to practice what they preach.

The day before the House of Representatives impeached President Bill Clinton in December 1998, it engaged in a nearly 13-hour debate that at times did not look all that dissimilar from the current impeachment debate.

Then, as now, House members opposed to impeachment characterized the proceedings as a “coup” meant to overturn the results of the previous presidential election, examples of which you can watch in the video above.

“Not all coups are accompanied by the sound of marching boots and rolling tanks,” Rep. Nita M. Lowey (D-N.Y.) said on the House floor on Dec. 18, 1998.

Rep. Eliot L. Engel (D-N.Y.) said, “I rise in strong opposition to this attempt at a bloodless coup d’etat, this attempt to overturn two national elections.”

Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said at the time: “You may have the votes, you may have the muscle, but you do not have the legitimacy of a national consensus or of a constitutional imperative. This partisan coup d’etat will go down in infamy in the history of this nation.”

AD
At least 11 House Democrats at the time called the Clinton impeachment proceedings a “coup,” including Rep. John Conyers Jr. (Mich.), then the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee. In her 2003 memoir, “Living History,” Hillary Clinton called the impeachment of her husband an “attempted Congressional coup d’etat.”

Engel and Nadler are now leading the impeachment inquiry of President Trump along with House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah E. Cummings (D-Md.) and Republicans are now taking a page from the Democratic “coup” playbook.

But go ahead and impeach the president, Nancy Pelosi. You're on a winning streak. Bring in those Independents your party so desperately needs to gain back the WH and keep the house and senate

Probably on this message board. ;)

I'm not surprised by any of this.

Emerson Polling - November National Poll: Support for Impeachment Declines; Biden and Sanders Lead Democratic Primary

There is also other polling that shows Trump beating Biden, Sanders and Warren recently in Wisconsin in multiple polls....
then the massive haul of cash the RNC has received all year breaking all kinds of records. Third quarter the last to be reported raised 125 million during the time the release of the Mueller report and Mueller's testimony before the Judicary that went oh so wrong for the Democrats. And the RNC has raised a massive amount of cash during the Schiff Show that will be part of the 4th quarter haul.

I really have no idea what that has to do with anything but as usual a fascinating little tidbit of history.

Thanks. However, I have no doubt the current impeachment proceedings will be any more than a similar footnote of history as Bob Fass's Fat Power Rally.

I must say I find an odd sort of satisfaction out of watching our Democratic friends lather themselves up all into a frenzy thinking, 'this time', we got that rascal Trump. Only to watch it all come apart.

Over and over and over again.

You almost feel bad but it's so side splitting comical you can't help but get a good chuckle out of it.

What? I've gotten all my first aid and life saving techniques here.
I credit DP with allowing me to have my finger on the pulse of the nation. Damn, I've been depressed ever since!

DNC Drops Lackluster Fundraising Numbers During Dem Debate

The Democratic National Committee released its fundraising numbers during the presidential primary debate on Wednesday night, revealing that the committee lags far behind Republicans in funding for the 2020 elections.

The DNC has $8.7 million in cash on hand, but it is $7 million in debt, according to its October Federal Election Commission filing. The Republican National Committee, meanwhile, had raised $156 million and had $61.4 million cash on hand as of the end of October.

That finger must be a little numb with some of your prognostics from the past week and a half.

Remember, impeaching the President not only involves removing the President, but also overturning an election. For impeachment to succeed, the ones that supported the President must be convinced that he isn't the man they voted for. That hasn't happened. As it stands now, it's an attempt for non-Republican voters to overpower Republican voters.

No, it's not "overturning an election". If Trump is impeached and convicted, Hillary doesn't become President. Pence does. And guess what...he's Republican. So maybe the whole "overturning an election" narrative can be put away for the partisan BS it is.

The point of impeachment inquiry's is to see if the President has violated law or oath of office for which constitutes the removal from power. It's not about convincing voters. If anything, it's about convincing Senators. But ideally, representatives do not approach this with partisan blinders and try to protect a President merely because he wears their brand. So you're wrong there too.

It would be funny if it weren't so sad?

Wrong. It has to do with honoring the results of an election. The 2018 midterms had dems sweep into office and they were voted in to check twump's rampant corruption and criminality.

Your fantasies don't apply here.

What you and so many others don't seem to get because you are so blinded by your beliefs that the dems are just out to get trump because they hate him, most of you guys can't think objectively, so let me try to help.

It's not about winning, it's not about we on the left are sore losers, it is all about what trump has done and what trump has said, nothing more. We actually believe this president is out of control, dangerous and dishonest. It's about using the tools our founding fathers gave us to protect our constitution and our democracy.

The right sorely wants america to believe this is all unconstitutional and a witch hunt by the angry democratic trump haters.

I think the public in general will be even more pissed off when the gop senators do nothing.

Hope it doesn't hurt too badly when reality crashes into the right wing beliefs.

Yeah, sure!...lol

The Democrats started talking about impeachment before Trump was even sworn in.

This is ALL about losing the election and a defensive strategy to try and prevent Trump from upsetting the D.C. applecart.

Sometimes you gotta laugh.

My husband and I roared with laughter.... :2funny: Thanks!
