Steven Mnuchin Refuses to Release Trump’s Tax Returns to Congress

Should this be fast tracked to the Supreme Court?

They may even mean that Trump is no way near as wealthy as he claims to be. They may disclose that he is on the hook financially with Russians. Your guess is as good as any -- that's the reason Congress should see them.
This is what's known as a fishing expedition.

I hear Trump also locks the doors to his houses! OMG! Like, he must be hiding some really important stuff. If that's not grounds for an immediate seach of all of his properties, I don't know what is!

Civil liberties be damned!! Let's get that bastard!!

Just a question pls- Do you consider the House oversight, requiring Tax records, according to law, to be overreach by Congress?

Nope.

Yes, the sooner we establish precedence that Congress can't look into tax records simply for political gain, the better.

The supreme court will rule in President Trump's favor and stop this disgraceful behavior by the looney left wingers.

Yeah, that really makes me sick.

Should Congress pursue this thru the Courts? I think they will.

If they do, should it be fast tracked to the Supreme Court?

Reason I ask this is, an AG held in Contempt of Congress is as they say political theater. Nothing but that. No repercussions, no changes.

This oversight is authorized by the Constitution and a law from around 1924 or so, and goes to the authorities of Congress as a co equal branch exercising power of oversight.
I know you are well aware of the above.

This IMHO is much more important than the Barr/House dancing around crapola that both parties play.

In this day and age Congress should request fast tracking, and the Courts should consider each case based upon the merits.

It should not take years for a decision on such a consequential case.

Just my opinion

Too bad you are not critical when such powers are used for personal enrichment and corruption, which makes you...

I assume you are talking about Trump. If you are, I'll say that I've seen no evidence that he as done anything of the sort.

ps...spin and nonsense from the media is not evidence.

Not sure if the courts need to be involved, but if a judge rules to release the information it would be challenged to the SC, or the Dems bring it if ruled against. Now you do know who makes up the new SC don't ya? So me thinks it would not work out and serve a purpose. Just use the refusal in the election next year.

I am critical of our government. That's why I object to the actions of the House Dems. That's why I want to see justice served for the illegal, corrupt actions of the Obama administration.

I am HIGHLY critical when I see people use their government powers for political purposes.

In the end it is all political, it cannot be any other way. DOJ 'guidelines' have conveniently ensured this cannot be treated as a criminal matter, which is therefore why any censure must come from congress. By definition impeachment is political because (apparently) the president is immune to simple criminal justice.

But their suspicion that he's committed crimes is not political: he's acting like a man who is guilty as hell. Tax evasion, tax fraud, perhaps laundering and bribery - who knows what else will come ought of it. But we're all getting a peek into it real soon.

Hope so, but I think the more likely scenario is that a new Congress is sworn in before it reaches the SC, and the case is just thrown out.

They've got about 20 months before a new Congress is sworn in and any case they might file becomes moot.

Not good odds.

Why are you posting off topic drivel, and quoting me to do it? Quote someone else if you want to go off topic. I'm on topic.

:lamo
"I'm on topic...so there!"
:lamo

Go ahead...take this to the SCOTUS.

The topic isn't Brett Kavanaugh. It's Steve Mnuchin.

Please stop quoting me if you can't stay on topic.

Ahhhh...all the sudden what the Democrats and assorted freaks and liars did to Kavanaugh is not relevant.
As if it never happened...eh? The Democrats and their accusatory pals injected a venomous agent into the deciding vote in the SCOTUS.
So go ahead...do it.
Take this to the SCOTUS.

Okay, so you want to keep quoting me and going off topic. Don't do it again.

The thread is about taking the Mnuchin situation to SCOTUS. If you have a vote in the poll then cast it.

I did.
In fact I'm the only vote for "Unsure".
I'm unsure because I'm not a lawyer and don't know...for sure.
However...it is very relevant what Feinstein and that pack of lying bastards, did to a man who now sits on the Supreme Court Bench.
Don't you?

Trump doesn't have to release his tax returns if he doesn't want to. There's no law that says that he has to release them. Besides, somehow, Rachel "Butch" Maddow already revealed what Trump paid on taxes a year or 2 ago, and if anyone remembers, it has shown he actually well overpaid on his taxes the past few years. She also had Obama's and it revealed he paid right around of what he normally pays based on his income. The last one she had, and this is probably the funniest of them all, Crazy Bernie paid WAY less than what he's suppose to pay, while telling everyone else that they need to pay more. I guess he thinks that he's the exception to the rule. Anyway, if Trump's tax returns are high it's because he overpaid on them and he's, to make it very black and white, getting reimbursed. Who cares, other than you Leftists out there obsessed with taking other people's money and property? He pays his amount, then some.

If you're trying to link this to RUSSIA COLLUSION, you don't think Mueller already looked there? For the Left, this kind of stuff is out of desperation because there was no evidence to support collusion nor obstruction. They have no one for 2020 that can beat Trump. The support is weak for these Democrat candidates, no one is standing out, as far as policies that would benefit the law-abiding citizens. Instead, these people are proposing whack job ideas like:

-supporting the idea of killing babies right before or after they're born

- letting criminals behind bars to vote (thieves, con-artists, rapists, murderers, terrorists, or someone of the sort)

-destroying private insurance companies and replacing them with something that would cost the country over $30 trillion

-raising taxes over 50% up to about 90% for "infrastructure" and "healthcare"

-reparations for something that happened well over two centuries ago (thanks to the Democrat party) and hasn't even been in practice since after the Civil War (God only knows how much)

-amnesty for all illegal aliens (costing nearly $1 trillion)

-an environmental deal that demands to tear down every building in the US and rebuild them to make them more "energy efficient", banning air travel and replacing it with railway systems, and banning little things like plastic straws and bags that do nothing to the environment, just to name a few and it ALL will cost around $90 trillion

That's how asinine these candidates really are and people won't go for it. Especially when it involves destroying a booming economy that we're experiencing right now (thanks to the tax cuts, the new trade deals, and companies coming back to the US). These guys are running against it. Forget whose responsible for it (although Trump ultimately is), and focus on what they're saying for the future. It contradicts the good that's happening right now and it'll take us backwards. So again, Trump's tax returns mean NOTHING and will show NOTHING. It's all hot air and the Leftist leaders know it. Only people that don't is their voting base because they're lying to them. She-Joker Pelosi already said that impeachment is pointless (just like Trump's tax returns) and they should try to defeat Trump in next year's election. I say good luck because, at this point, it won't happen.
