Stabbing in Paris

There has just been a stabbing in Paris.

One person has been killed and 4 injured before the police shot the stabber. This being the case, and the fact that there have been bombings, shootings, and vehicular assaults in Paris, you would be full of malarkey to say that London or Paris are safe places.
 
Newsflash: The entire world is not a safe place. The world is full of tragic stories.

You are wrong. You are a victim of media created hysteria.

How often have you traveled to London or Paris?

London and/or Paris are less safe than New York or Chicago or Miami or LA, how? Show us. Most importantly show yourself.

Every time my wife and I travel to a country outside the US my mother-in-law, who is a fine lady and someone I respect, always goes into panic mode about our safety. My mother-in-law never travels outside the US because she's afraid.

People in the world are very much like people where you come from. Often, very often, they are less materialistic and more tolerant than Americans.

My advice to you is that if you want to live then see the world. Avoid cruises and group tours. Go. Don't hangout with Americans. Get lost in the local culture. Take local transport, eat in local restaurants, access the local culture, try to learn the basics of the local language. That is living.

It remains a wonderful world. Give it a chance.

My Russian teacher and good friend is in Paris right now.

I post on a very left leaning board as well as this one the responses there aren't even talking about the victims. Or how the killer is mentally ill. Instead, people are saying, thank goodness he didn't have a AR-15." lol. I came to this forum hoping for better discussions, but the ignorant are everywhere involving firearms and the mentally ill.

Well according to vegas giants, cities with stricter gun control such as NYC, London, and Paris are overall safer. That might be true about NYC but not London or Paris.

Well, he didn't have an AR15, nor do Paris schools get rata-tat-tatted either. The whole thing is very sad, but it could have been worse - right?

Fully automatic AK-47s from Belgium tend to find their way into criminal and terrorist hands in France.
