When most politicians make promises they are unrealistic statements of lofty goal. If they don't deliver, it isn't necessarily because they didn't mean it in the first place.
Trump is full of **** on just about everything and his later actions indicate that "wonderful insurance for everyone" was never a goal. It was a lie. At the time he said it, he had no intention of actually trying to do it.
But you know that. And you'll keep pretending otherwise to run the "both sides" deflection game.
In fact his administration is actively pushing for the courts to allow insurers to turn people away, as they could in the pre-ACA days. This isn't swing-and-a-miss politics where a politician overpromised and underdelivered, Trump is deliberately trying to make it harder for people to get coverage (after promising to do the opposite). He's been doing it the entire time he's been in office.
His apologists can't truly be this blind.
