So the repubs guy Volker, blew the Biden consipracy theory out of the water

Volker is pretty sharp but was forced to correct his earlier testimony and admit that Sondland did blow up the WH meeting with Ukraine officials by bringing up political investigations though he still resisted testifying that Bolton abruptly ended the meeting claiming instead that the meeting just "ended abruptly".

I find Morrison's testimony that he reported the Trump/Zalinsky Telcon to NSA counsel because he was worried about leaks and political fallout while not considering the substance an issue entirely unconvincing. He then determines that bringing up political investigations during the Trump/Zalinsky call was a substantive issue. Mexican jumping beans dance around less.

Finally Jordan ended swinging from the chandeliers again. No Congressman, the Rudy gang frigging around in Ukraine foreign policy is not the Dems fault. Idiot Sundland is not the Dems fault. They are both your boy Fat Donald's fault. Volker and Morrison leaving government are not the Dems fault either. Those go against Fat Donald's ledger as well.

Funny in a way but I find this "dancing on the head of a pin" testimony more similar to the Iran/Contra Scandal testimony than either Watergate testimony or the Clinton Impeachment testimony. It was wholly unconvincing in Iran/Contra and its wholly unconvincing here as well as the witnesses just end up continually walking backwards.

So many of the witnesses are throwing Sondland under the bus it almost looks like a coordinated effort. I actually do not think it coordinated as much as it is simply more proof that Trump lap dog Sondland was and is entirely out of his element as that blustery cell phone call from Ukraine to Trumpkin also proves.

Morrison tossed Sondland back under on Tuesday.

Jordan is just there for the monkeys on AM talk radio

Volker and Morrison looked shifty and uncomfortable. I wonder how these guys felt about serving Trump.

Their answers often sounded evasive, as if they hoped listeners would believe neither had a clue what Trump, Rudy and Sondland wanted to accomplish.

Nunes, Jordan, Stefanik and Turner continue to attempt to portray this Ukraine scandal as no big deal. Too many facts fly in the face of their alternative reality.

Impeachment looms large and imminent.

Up next ------> Sondland. Today we get to see and hear his and GOP leadership's latest spin tactics.

All this winning by Trump brings on Big Grins and uplifting emotions!

So...I made a mistake. The House Republicans did, in fact, call Volker for an open hearing.

Schiffty made the mistake of granting that request. Volker irreparably damaged the Dem's strategy.

I cannot wait to see how he tries to spin his way out of that fail.

I bet he goes with the "dismissed" bit.

Anybody else have any predictions?

Geezuz...morning talking heads all bundled up against 48 degree temps in DC this morning. Not a very hearty bunch. Even Cuomo is quadruple bundled AGAINST what weather query says is near 50 degree temps.

The Republicans haven't asked for Volker to testify...that would be the Dems. Unfortunately, Volker didn't help the Dems any. They probably regret asking him to come and testify in an open hearing.

Uh, yes the Republicans did ask for Volker.

I guess you have the very short memory that plagues every reactionary righ winger. This time yesterday morning your trash blogs and Fox were telling everyone that the GOP was going to do well yesterday with their two witnesses.

Didn’t happen.

The Republicans haven't asked for Volker to testify.
It simply amazes me how brazenly Republicans lie.
So...I made a mistake. The House Republicans did, in fact, call Volker for an open hearing.
They did, but the only reason you thought Volker was a Democratic witness was because Devin Nunes (and other Republicans) said Volker was a Democratic witness.

Republicans just brazenly lie because they know blind partisans will mindlessly repeat what they say.
Volker irreparably damaged the Dem's strategy.
You really ought to stop watching news channels that lie to you. Because if you think Volker was damaging to anyone other than Trump/Republicans, then you clearly were not paying attention.

Wasn't Volker chosen by repubs to bolster their position?

Doesn't sound like it to me. He totally debunked the corruption CT on Biden that has been spinning around Fox 24/7 ( which came from Guiliani whose buds, Igor and Lev, are under indictment )

Yes it is a fact that father and son...

Color me surprised if the Majority on the Intel Committee does not put together a montage of clips that allow the audience to see the though-line for all of this testimony and all the Minority is going to have is Jordan swinging from the Chandelier, wild accusations from Nunes, Stefanik giving elementary school civics lessons (actually could be useful for parts of the audience) and Ratcliffe making a literal mountain of paper from a molehill of an argument.

The only reason I think Volker was a Dem witness is because the Dems totally control who is allowed to be a witness.

Yes...the Reps requested Volker, but the Dems won't allow anyone to be a witness unless they think that witness is to their advantage.

The Dems, I'm sure, now realize their mistake.

That is absurd. Volker had to walk back and threw Sondland under the bus and Morrison threw him farther the bus.

Just heard quotes from Sondland's opening statement. Forget taking the 5th. Sondland is going to do the deed!

So...I made a mistake. The House Republicans did, in fact, call Volker for an open hearing.

Beyond your opinion, can you point out what damage Volker did to the Democratic strategy?

According to the released opening statements that were just read on TV, Sondland is tossing everyone under the bus. HE said that there was quid pro quo, and that he was following Trumps directions.

Beyond your opinion, can you point out what damage Volker did to the Democratic strategy?

This...

...this...

...and this.

The only reason I think Volker was a Dem witness is because the Dems totally control who is allowed to be a witness.
So you're claiming you made a false statement because you have no idea what is going on in the news?

Yes...the Reps requested Volker
And Morrison and Hale. And the Democrats allowed Republican witnesses which are actually relevant to the investigation.

but the Dems won't allow anyone to be a witness unless they think that witness is to their advantage.
Do you have any evidence of this besides partisan nonsense you pilfered from Conservative Treehouse?

Dems allowed witnesses which are relevant to the investigation.

The Dems, I'm sure, now realize their mistake.
Yes, as support for impeachment and removal continue to climb and as Gordon Sondland is about to blast every last defense of the GOP out of the water (his opening statement apparently explicitly says there was a quid pro quo being directed by Trump and that numerous members of his administration were in on it), I'm sure the Democrats are regretting their actions...

You should probably put your chickens away...at least, until you actually hear what Sondland has to say.

But if you insist on making predictions, I will as well. I predict that the Dems realize their mistake once again.

I mean, you can read your opening statement yourself.

Read Gordon Sondland'''s explosive opening statement at the impeachment hearing

Here's a little taste:

Sondland said:
Fourth, as I testified previously, Mr. Giuliani’s requests were a quid pro quo for arranging a White House visit for President Zelensky. Mr. Giuliani demanded that Ukraine make a public statement announcing investigations of the 2016 election/DNC server and Burisma. Mr. Giuliani was expressing the desires of the President of the United States, and we knew that these investigations were important to the President.

Mycroft said:
But if you insist on making predictions, I will as well. I predict that the Dems realize their mistake once again.

You appear to be very bad at making predictions. Because Sondland's opening statement buries the Trump administration.

Nunes seems to have pulled a page from Nixon's Playbook today for his opening statement by relying heavily on Art Buchwald's 1973 satirical article on Watergate.

His defense of Trump reminds me of this list:

1. Everyone does it.

2. What about Hillary’s emails?

3. A president can’t keep track of everything his staff does (if they giggle at this, then pretend you were talking to someone else).

4. The lamestream media is blowing this whole thing up.

5. Whatever Trump does is to Make America Great Again! (This should be shouted or written in CAPS.)

6. The Democrats are sore because they lost the election. (They never get tired of hearing it.)

7. Are you going to believe a rat like Michael Cohen or the Potus?

8. Wait till all the facts come out.

9. What about Benghazi?

10. If you impeach Trump, then you get Pence. (This will cause a brief mind-burp in your adversary.)

11. The only thing wrong with the infamous Trump Tower Russian meeting was the mild confusion over the original intent. (Do NOT mention adoptions.)

12. This happens in European politics all the time.

13. People would be against Trump no matter what he did.

14. I’d rather have a crook in the White House than a liberal.

15. What’s the big deal about finding out what your opposition is up to?

16. Trump has been too busy running the country to know every little thing that’s going on in his administration.

17. Obama did a lot worse things.

18. So Trump made a mistake. He’s only human.

19. I’m sick and tired of hearing about Mueller and so is everybody else.

20. I don’t know anyone who actually cares about his tax returns.

21. When Trump gives his explanation of what really happened, there will be a lot people with egg on their faces.

22. What about Benghazi emails?

23. It’s called flipping and should probably be illegal.

24. She’s a porn star for Christ’s sake.

25. Why would you believe anything in the National Enquirer?

As I listen to Sondland today give his opening statement, I don't expect him to resort to take the 5th during questioning.

All the winning by Trump has begun to have a 'spill over" effect!

I'm listening to Sondland as I type this. I'll continue to listen to him until he's done.

But I must say that so far I have heard nothing that indicates anything was done for Trump's political/personal purposes. Without that, the Dems get nothing helpful.

I'll stick to my prediction.

I really like how Schiff and Sondland have cast a wider net to include Pompeo, Pence and Perry.
