Senate GOP demanded a border bill w/foreign aid, sank the bill & are now voting for foreign aid w/out a border bill

That presupposes that they actually care about border security. They never did. We shall see if the gamble pays off with a Trump victory. They will never see anything like that what was in that bill pass and get signed, regardless of which President wins the office. That deal is soooo off the table.

And that, in turn, presupposes the the border bill was better than nothing, which is highly debatable.
 
We should still do a border bill this year, if we can.

The incompetence is the current tRump controlled GOP.
Any logical thinker can plainly see that the GOP does not truly want the border fixed. They need the issue as campaign fodder.

Bipartisan bill was offered, authored by a Republican, and initially was going to pass House. Then Trump told the cult to shut it down.

Rest is history.
 
Just call it the Grand Trump Party and move on……

As the border bill would have not prevented that flow from being paroled into the US, that is what it would have provided us anyway.

US law gives Biden all the authority he needs to fix the border crisis.

Which treaties forced Biden to wave in 10 million people who showed up at the border? Any such treaty should be abrogated immediately.

(BTW, That would be an example of putting America First.)

Biden can do something short of abrogating the treaties. From my experience with refugee law, in cases of mass influx, standards allow for the detention of asylum seekers. He could set up camps that would allow access by NGOs, but have ICE officials to adjudicate claims. Good news:rapid adjudication and return of the unworthy would likely deter frivolous claims. Bad news: this would cost a lot. Worse news: republicans want to campaign on the issue not on efforts to solve it.

Or he could close the border. Or he could set a maximum limit of say 400 asylum applicants per day. If the day is full, then come back tomorrow.

That would still be about 150,000 fake asylum seekers per year.

Yeah, doesn't really address the problem, and probably adds to it with more resorting to an illegal way in.

Probably should have passed that senate bill, if serious about dealing with the problem.
