Semi-auto means the same as Semi / Auto

He's been asked that a few times already.

He is conflating killing with murder though he claims he is not hence the unwillingness to explain and the goofy games.

Yet you continue to persist with guns are designed to kill. So what is the overarching point? So what if they were originally designed to kill?

Nothing. They were designed to kill. Do you admit that?

OMG! The typical mantra"the bullets start spraying and little kids start dying".JLee is right about the difference and you know it(well maybe not but bought into it).Can you tell me the last time that a real dyed in the wool actual assault rifle was used to spray children (actually anyone in the U.S. France don't count..and no S.H. don't count since apparently the gun in question, and I do mean in question was a AR-15 SEMI-AUTO.

Zero!

I wouldnt have thought so. I mean...you could have gone back to Sandy Hook...but hat would really just illustrate the point that assault rifles arent relevant, therefore promoting gun control over semis vs autos, ARs vs assault rifles, clips vs magazines...its all rather silly.

The reason I did not google it is because it is irrelevant to the issue...

Again... irrelevant to the argument.

Have I said otherwise? So what? A couple of mine have killed quite well.

Good. Do you also admit that when talking about a murder by a gun that the initial debate should not be about if the gun was semi-auto or an assault rifle or other such gibberish? That is something that detracts from the murder and the issue.

No! Not irrelevant ,You by your admission how little kids are being "sprayed" was something you brought up and the thread is "Semi-auto means the same as Semi / Auto".
So in that context you are referring to a full auto weapon since semi-auto's don't spray. So when was the last such shooting of children or anyone with a full auto assault rifle? Were waiting.

My department must be doing it wrong! I have never arrested a gun for murder.

You need to re-read my post to get the meaning apparently...

Do you also agree that when discussing limiting rights and freedoms that it is very important that the terms be defined and accurate rather than simply pass laws consisting of gibberish. I would correct someone if they called a rifle a shotgun or called a supercharger a turbocharger. Words have meaning and some people are ignorant of the terms. Choosing to deny there is a difference between semi vs auto is willful stupidity. Ignorance can be fixed though.

I am not talking about limiting rights... just about what I said.

OK I did reread it and it would seem you don't give a f#** either way. So why do you seem to care?. In the context you used "spraying"when was the last time?

I care about the ridiculous counter argument by gun owners/NRA to when a gun is used in a murder all that they care about is ridiculing anybody that uses the incorrect terminology as if it matters in the slightest to the issue of violence or to that murder. It is semantics and a pathetic Straw Man.

You are right. And what you said was irrelevant in regards to the op. The op was about using terms correctly and educating folks that may be ignorant of the terms. We can fix ignorance.

It matters because that incorrect terminology is used to pass more gun laws based on bull****! In 2004 when the federal assault weapons ban was about to sunset, CNN portrayed that the firearms on the banned list were the same as machine guns. Claiming machine guns would be legal again! If it wasn't for Wayne LaPierre of the NRA calling them liars on national TV they might have gotten away with it.

We are not talking about Congress debating terminology and creating laws based off of that discussion.

We are talking about gun zealots freaking out about incorrect terminology in non-legal related discussions, including here.

Gotten away with it... pfff. You sound paranoid.

This photo was provided to be me by a coworker I was in a gun debate with. He stated that when you hear the news reporting on a shooter using a semi-auto assault weapon, this is what they are referring to! (I added the caption!) I am amazed a the lack of simple firearm knowledge that certain political persuasions have. This only proves my long standing belief that when they say they don't want to remove guns from everyone, they really do!

Since some folks in this forum seem to have their delicate sensibilities hurt when it is suggested they use the correct terms, perhaps this helps educate those who need a little extra help. download.jpg

Yeah... a picture of part of a gun with PEW written all over it really clears things up.

Correct me if I am wrong, this is a "gun control" forum. Topics would relate to guns and how to or how not to control them! People believe false information, contact their congressional representatives voicing their pro-gun control stance, and get BS gun laws passed based on BS.
