For the elderly, falls are the most hazardous enemies out there. Broken ribs, while painful, is light. Broken hips, concussions, and other pleasures can lead to death or permanent disability. I googled Ginsburg because this was the first time I had heard of such a person, and when I looked at pictures of her face, I wondered to myself whether she was Jewish, because she was ugly in a very unusual way. Then I read her wikipedia page, which confirmed that she's a Jew. And people say race isn't real. Yeah right, it was so easy to tell.

Getting old sucks and I doubt several of you at DP understand that yet. But some day you will. I have a 94 year old aunt that had a bad fall a couple of weeks before and broke 4 ribs. She has been in a lot of pain and and spent a week in the hospital. . When you have broken ribs it can hurt with every breath you take. And if you have the unfortunate need to cough the pain intensifies.

Well said. Just about every move one makes with their body, affects the ribs. Standing from a sitting position. Rolling over in bed. Those movement can be difficult enough in old age. Doing it with broken ribs? Ouch!
