Rural southwest Nebraska clinic closes, blaming expected Medicaid cuts

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A clinic in southwest Nebraska announced Wednesday that it is closing due to financial challenges, including anticipated Medicaid cuts.

McCook-based Community Hospital said it is shutting down its clinic in Curtis, a town of about 900 people.

The Curtis Medical Center has been in operation for more than 30 years.

“Unfortunately, the current financial environment, driven by anticipated federal budget cuts to Medicaid, has made it impossible for us to continue operating all of our services, many of which have faced significant financial challenges for years,” Community Hospital CEO Troy Bruntz said in a statement.

Likely just the first of many.

Taco won the district by more than 50 points, by the way. So they are getting what they voted for.

I understand the impulse, but it is ugly.

I personally do not like to see people suffer. Even if their suffering is the result of their own poor choices.

I for one am delighted that my federal tax dollars will no longer be used to fund handouts in rural Nebraska. It's time that they pull themselves up by their own bootstraps and fund their own healthcare for a change. More money in my pocket, less money in Nebraska. Sounds like a win to me.

It is terrible, even as they continue to support the architects of their suffering and blame Democrats for it.

No. They will blame no one and treat their suffering as something noble.
I respectfully disagree. Donald will tell them that it's Joe Biden's fault, and they will dutifully express their outrage at Sleepy Joe or Dementia Joe or Brandon or whatever name-calling best eases their physical suffering.

Would it be bad taste to take out an ad in that community thanking them for giving this big city liberal a tax cut?
I don't think so, but I'd rather that a MAGA pay for the ad.

I just don't care what happens to these people enough to, you know, thank them for anything.

Maybe they don't understand that the cuts aren't really cuts.
:)

Man. Could you imagine?

“Hi. I’m an East Coast liberal that lives in a 4 million dollar apartment in Manhattan. I would like to personally thank you for closing your hospital so I could get a tax break.

I got my eye on some William Morris wall paper for the foyer.”

Perhaps they will be told that the Haitians of Springfield, Ohio are Eating the Hospitals?
🎶They're eating the clinics they're eating the hospitals, eat the clinics e-eat the clinics e-eat the clinics🎶

Worry not, these people will blame Joe Biden for the hospital closing.
