I can only respond to Tom Ridge's statement by saying one simple sentence.
Thank you, Mr. Ridge, for stating that waterboarding IS torture that we should not be committing. I still disagree with renditions in general of people, many who have turned out to be innocent, but do agree that, in some cases rendition is necessary.
I will also say this - In the aftermath of the 911 attacks, we had to move quickly, and make mistakes in the process. From what Tom Ridge said, these mistakes have been ironed out. But torture of any kind is not a mistake. It is an act that we punished our enemies for doing, and we should never stoop to their level, lest we become like them.
Thank you again, Mr. Ridge, for stating the obvious. May we learn from the mistakes of our past, and never repeat them.

I guess it was not one simple sentence after all, but things are more complicated now.
