Riddle Me This, Republicans

Probably because he wasn't asking anyone to investigate Biden. As was testified to yesterday by witnesses hand picked by the Democrats, Trump was asking that corruption related to the 2016 campaign be investigated. The Biden stuff was more about investigating a potentially problematic relationship between Burisma (with Hunter Biden on the board) and Joe Biden who was the point man for Ukraine policy. The hand picked witnesses ALSO acknowledged the potentially problematic nature of that setup.

Do you have the address of the Crowdstrike office in Ukraine?

You know, the one where the DNC server racks are hidden?

The one owned by that rich Ukrainian?

Sure you want to hang your hat on that?

Really? Isn’t that what the Horowitz Report supposed to be about?

It is evident that Trump had Guliani and his two Russian bag men running around trying to make this case for months, and trying to pressure the Ukrainians into doing Trump’s dirty work even before Zelensky became President. While it is unclear whether Kiev actually knew that Trump was sitting on their military aid, there is no question that they were fully aware that the Trump Administration had been pressuring their government for months, and the deliberate downgrading of the US delegation to Zalensky’s inauguration was a clear signal, to Moscow as well as Kiev.

And what are two Russian bag man doing working for Trump?

And why would Trump have two guys who got the money they paid Guliani from Dimitri Firtash (who got it from the Kremlin) anywhere near him??????

And what about these two clowns meeting with their “lawyer” Guliani, just before getting caught trying to skip town?????

I’m sure all of this is perfectly normal, and above board.

At least that’s what Trump tells you. And a lot of people are dumb enough to believe it too.

And why is Bill Barr jetting around the world looking for dirt on Biden?

And why is Trump openly inviting all comers to dig dirt for him?

Several of the characters in this saga also appear in the Russian influence effort in 2016.

And what’s with these two Russian bag men, who were obviously part of Trump and Guliani’s scheme/

Yesterday, the GOP tried to defend it’s fool’s gold fuhrer by claiming that the witnesses were all second hand. We can fix that.

Put, Guliani, the two Russians, Pompeo, Barr, and Mulvaney on the stand!

I promise you the Democrats won’t object!

Horowitz is investigating FISA abuse. Perhaps you're talking about Durham but his investigation is geared toward the origins of investigations into the Trump campaign such as "Crossfire Hurricane". Durham's investigation may well end up with some ties to Ukraine though that's not explicitly what it's about. It's kind of like how the Mueller report involved Manafort tax fraud even though it was never really about tax fraud.

Donald Trump Jr.

@DonaldJTrumpJr
“The Ukrainian President stood in front of a world press and repeatedly, consistently, over and over again, interview after interview, said he had no knowledge of military aid being withheld, meaning no quid pro quo."@RepRatcliffe destroys dem arguments.

Which is what anybody would say who was in a shooting war with Russia and negotiations for an end to hostilities.

American backing is essential to their survival.

Any indication that America is withholding or delaying support weakens their bargaining position.

Puts Ukrainian lives in danger.

When the mad king makes requests you do your best to meet them.

You certainly don't cut your own throat to rat him out.

What does anyone else in the room need to testify to? The call transcript has been released.

It was edited. It says so at the very top. Like I said , if this was a perfect call then those who have been subpoenaed to verify the call should be allowed to testify. Plain and simple.

Fair enough.

If Trump cared so much about Corruption, and sees Ukraine as corrupt:

1. Why did he not use our own government and our own LE which Trump has BROAD authority over to investigate Biden?

2. Why rely on a universally "corrupt" government, like Ukraine, to investigate US citizens?

Why is it acceptable that Trump's hypocrisy on this issue is normalized? You don't get to say we're not giving you aid because we're concerned you're corrupt, but, we want you to investigate a US Citizen.

This doesn't square. The defense makes no sense.

1. In the transcript, Trump stated he would have Barr coordinate. That would seem to imply the involvement of law enforcement.

2. Perhaps the same reason why the Obama Admin relied upon their judgment with respect to Manafort

3. The last piece is a fair political point.
But it no way rises to the level of impeachment.

Funny because even in the partial transcript Trump mentions investigating Biden. As far as problematic, Just look at Trump's children. They are the poster children of problematic. There is no evidence that either Biden did anything wrong. Asking a foreign power to investigate them is wrong on so many levels.

Well, we know that Trump has had Barr flying around trying to get dirt on Joe Biden, in the guise of “conducting an investigation” of Hunter Biden.

If that’s your idea of law enforcement, using the apparatus of justice to pursue political agendas, you’re probably living in the wrong country.

And if these gangsters are allowed to get away with it, I am.

And spare us all the drivel about Trump caring about corruption. Trump regards corruption as a business opportunity. So, too, do his tv lawyer, and his Russian bag men.

We know nothing of the sort.
We do know that there is an investigation into the origins of the Obama Admin thinking that the Trump campaign had conspired to fix the 2016 election. Barr, as AG, does play a role in that.

If that’s your idea of law enforcement, using the apparatus of justice to pursue political agendas, you’re probably living in the wrong country.

Doubtful. Many people hereabouts have been screaming for the past few years about the Obama Admin investigating Mr. Trump for conspiring with Russia and the reasons for thinking that.
I don't recall the anti-Trumpers expressing much concern over that.

 It should be pointed out that Trump received a lot of heat regarding is refusal to send more aid to Puerto Rico-- he cited corruption at the time. Just sayin...

I noticed that this thread was started and the last post was before the impeachment hearings really got underway. Now that we have a week of testimony, will anything change?
