Republican Senator Jeff Flake: Trump using Stalin's words to attack media

It's fun watching the right attack one of their own. All because he criticized the God-King.

Putin? No....try again.

Where'd Putin come out of? I can't remember what it was...it started with an S and sounds like oviet.

Well, did Stalin attempt to surpress a free press and/or free speech of the people or not? It's very simple to research. Here, I'll start you off...

Obama administration spied on Fox News reporter James Rosen: Report

OBAMA ADMINISTRATION SECRETLY OBTAINS PHONE RECORDS OF AP JOURNALISTS

https://www.wired.com/2013/05/doj-got-reporter-phone-records/

Jesus H Christ what a bunch of ****ing hypocrites. When Obama's DOJ named a American journalist a criminal co-conspirator under the 1922 Espionage Act so they could hack into his emails and phone records, you people AND JEFF FLAKE kept your mouths shut.

The LAST administration moved this Nation more towards totalitarianism than ANY administration before it, especially when you add in the FISA admitted FISA violations that wound up comprising 1 out of every 20 upstream searches conducted by the Obama intelligence agencies from 2011- 2016

He's not espoused any Communist positions in government. If you actually think a move to Communism is coming, a short trip to Moscow would disabuse you of that notion.. Very quickly. If anything, it seems Putin favors unfettered capitalism.

Jeff Flake is a flake.
BINGO! RIGHT to down

Way to cut the man down without any discussion on what he spoke about nor the specifics of what he said.

My question to you is a simple one: Was he right or was he wrong? Yes or no.

It won't matter one way or the other. That is the point, really. The press will turn on him as soon as he is no longer useful. Same as McCain.

There was no free press, or free speech in The Soviet Union. Technically, both had been abolished before Stalin came to power. That's half the reason Flake's comment stupid.

The other half of the reason is that President Trump isn't trying to suppress the free press, or free speech. In fact, he's excercising free speech.

A president doesn't surrender his 1st Amendment rights when he gets elected; at least that's what you all told us when Ibama criticized the free press over stories that he didn't like. You were ok with that.

Obama even siced his DOJ on reporters he didn't like. You were ok with that, too.

What it boils down to, is that a president could never get away with suppressing the free press without the consent of the people. There are those of us that would never go along with it, for any reason. However, there are those of you that would be happy to support a president that wanted to suppress news orgs that printed stories you didn't like. Liberals have been trying to shut down speech they don't like for decades.

Yes, something for which you have repeatedly demonstrated an inability.

Have no intention to stop.

Well, anyone who thinks Stalin suppressed a free press in The Soviet Union has zero grasp on reality, much less on the facts.

Your are correct. I think Juan Peron is a better comparison. Then again, Peron was reasonably bright (and he served).

QUOTE=Hawkeye10;1068065768]Flake The Flop......apparently he is nothing special, just another one of the low talent people we have sent to Washington in recent years.

The emotionalism, the lack of honesty, the lack of insights....all sadly common now.

and, speaking of low talent people sent to Washington (and speaking of Juan Peron)...

View attachment 67227264[/QUOTE]

Point out one thing that President Trump has done to suppress the freedom of the press.

To quote Stalin and 45's base, the "enemy of the people" perhaps?

Perhaps if you learned some facts and to read in context and have the integrity to actually address the topid you would not have to ask such a moronic question.

What's moronic is that some people actually think the answer to the question is "yes"...lol

That's a lie. AKA "fake news."

There are Liberals who claim that Trump supporters are the enemy; that talk radio and Conservative media are the enemy. But, that's ok...ain't it?

I did read what you wrote. Here it is again:

What you wrote is literally impossible. The call for the repeal of Obamacare was happening from the 1st day it passed. This predates Trump by a long shot. Sorry, you don't get to make up your own process for how laws are made and neither are you allowed to use time-traveling to support your position.

Your position is pedantic and unrealistic as it ignores the reality of 2017 and the fact that Trump pushed for both measures and put his own prestige on the line for both measures. And Flake supported both measures and voted the way Trump advocated.

You can repeat the same thing a million times - but it is a silly argument that is not based in the reality of politics and positions as they existed in 2017 with Trump as President and Congress facing votes on both issues.

I certainly see the public stupidity of Jeff Flake.

Anybody that believes Stalin criticized the free press in The Soviet Union needs to switch parties; he's waaaay to stupid to be a Republican.

Lots of stupid people are Republicans - the election results more than prove that.

He embraced political advantage, which you treat far more favorably than party.

Really? Explain for the us the so called "political advantage" Flake has now gained for himself with this speech?
