How do these republicans look themselves in the mirror, spreading lies and conspiracies to cover for a corrupt president while aiding Russia and Putin.....shameful, really. Their kids and grandkids will be proud of the cowardice shown here.

U.S. Senator: Republican Party Is Turning Into Russia’s ‘Most Important Global Asset’

Sen. Chris Murphy called out the GOP for using Moscow’s conspiracy theories to defend President Donald Trump.

“Call me old fashioned, but I think it’s a little unsavory the Republican Party is becoming the most important global asset of Russian intel,” Murphy tweeted on Sunday. “I get it, Russia’s bonkers ‘Ukraine did it, not Russia’ story is all the GOP has to defend their guy, but really?”

Murphy’s tweet came hours after one of his Senate colleagues essentially repeated a debunked Russian talking point on “Meet the Press” on Sunday.

Malcolm Nance has a couple books including his latest called THE PLOT TO BETRAY AMERICA where he painstakingly chronicles this movement of the GOP from anti-Soviet to pro-Russian. The sad fact that they have been turned into pro-Russian dupes and assets is disgraceful and will eventually destroy the party if there is any justice in the world.

I think you've got it bass ackwards. In 2016 our own intelligence determined that Russia wanted to undermine our elections and put doubt in the minds of voters regarding democracy itself and ever since the Democrats have been running around like chickens with their heads cut off claiming that the election wasn't legitimate and trying to impeach Trump. Why does the left refuse to believe our own intelligence community?

Without a doubt John Kennedy of Louisiana and Trump are polezni durak. or useful idiots. The Russians haven't had it this good since Michael Foot almost became prime minister of the UK back in the 1980'shttps://ipolitics.ca/2018/07/22/putins-polezni-durak-probably-isnt-going-anywhere/

I think Trump is one of the best things to happen to Putin.

With Trump, all roads lead to Russia. So it goes.

Dr. Hill was of the opinion that the Steele Dossier was Russian disinformation. Given that Mr. Steele himself has said he doesn't know the source of much of his information, and given that Russia was targeting the 2016 election, it is a perfectly reasonable conclusion.
Yet the Democrats had no problem entering that document in the Congressional Record, or using it in an American courtroom on a warrant on an American citizen, or using it in general as evidence of Trump's complicity.
Nothing the GOP has done approaches this.

What happened in 2016 is that Russia attacked the election. And Democrats are using this as a political weapon against the Republicans.

No. According the the Mueller Report Russia wanted to elect Trump and it's meddling was entirely directed to that goal and Trump welcomed the help and expected to benefit from it. True Americans are horrified at that and so should you. Due to the closeness of the election which Trump won with less than 80,000 votes in 3 blue States we will never know if it was the Russian help that made the difference. That is fact.

What happened in 2016 is that Russia attacked the election TO HELP TRUMP and Trump won by less than 80,000 votes in 3 Blue States. Trump has denied those facts and Republicans have tried to thwart any attempt to prevent it from happening again in 2020. The Steele dossier accurately documented that Trump was being helped by Russia and that Trump knew of the help and welcomed it. All Americans should be horrified by that. The fact that you and many Republicans are not makes your loyalty to our Constitution suspect. You need to look hard and long at you motivation for that behavior.

You are listening to Russian propaganda if you listen to the Steele dossier.
Steele was snookered, just like the Obama admin. And yes, like, in a much more inconsequential manner, the Trump campaign.

You should rely more on facts than on GOP claims,

Amid President Donald Trump’s recurring rounds of insults to the U.S. intelligence community, there’s been justifiable concern about the damage inflicted on the internal morale and public stature of the intelligence professionals who keep us all safe. The latest insult—Trump’s tweeting of an apparently sensitive image of an Iranian facility—adds to this set of concerns. Trump’s approach to his own intelligence and diplomatic services, combined with his approach to direct engagement with Russian President Vladimir Putin, is costing the United States real insight into hostile foreign actors’ intentions while paving the way for domestic disinformation in years to come.

In what follows, we catalogue the pattern of Trump’s actions and their potential ramifications. What might explain the President’s insistence on repeatedly dismissing, denigrating, and even denouncing the U.S. intelligence community? Two key drivers appear to be (1) Trump’s dogged pursuit of desired policies regardless of the assessments of the real world offered by the U.S. intelligence community and (2) Trump’s elevation of his own political and personal self-interest over the nation’s security.

Tendency 1: Blinding the intelligence community

In several ways, Trump has blinded intelligence professionals in different areas of their work. Consider his attempt to declassify large swaths of the Russia counterintelligence investigation—for political gain—and his willingness to expose intelligence products in an impulsive moment, such as boasting to the Russians in the Oval Office about sensitive counterterrorism collection capabilities and, most recently, tweeting an overhead image of Iran’s launch site. These actions will undercut our spies’ ability to recruit foreign sources and to convince foreign intelligence agencies to share vital secrets with us. Those foreign sources and agencies must have trust in our intelligence community, and that trust is based in large part on our government’s ability to safeguard the most sensitive information obtained by it. Some of America’s closest allies reportedly have become unwilling to share as much with us in light of Trump’s actions.

What’s worse, President Trump also has taken steps that can blind U.S. intelligence agencies more directly.

Let’s start with the critical insights into Russian intentions that America is losing because of Trump’s unique approach to his meetings with Putin. The corollary to Trump’s denigration of our nation’s intelligence services is his insistence on meeting—repeatedly—with Putin one-on-one. After all, Trump is the President who insists that, when it comes to handling America’s foreign affairs, “I’m the only one that matters.” And there’s reason to believe he genuinely holds such a view, or something close to it.
The Pattern and Practice of Trump’s Assaults on the Intelligence Community

Uh oh, it might destroy the party? Like I give a damn (LOL)
I'm concerned that it might destroy the country.

I'm funny like that. ;)

Name a single Democrat who says the election wasn't legitimate.

Hillary called Trump an illegitimate President. That's kinda the same thing.

Nevertheless, everyone else accepts that Donald Trump was duly elected by the Electoral College, and no one thinks that the Kremlin sent a bunch of Boris and Natashas to infect voting machines.

The Russians are attacking us with weaponized propaganda and sowing division and mistrust in our most basic values and institutions with the help of their "client-puppet", Donald Trump.
No one thinks he is an "illegitimately elected" puppet, just that he's a puppet, one who has committed impeachable acts.

If there is any voter blame to go around, most of it should go to Democrats who stayed home thinking they had this in the bag.

Hillary isn't a leftist, and even if she was, she is not "the entire Left", as blurted out by Moderate Right.

I don't disagree with anything you said.

I'm reminded of the "what votes were changed" argument to dismiss Russian interference. We seemed to have morphed from that to 'Ukraine did it'.

Mueller verified that the basic premise of the dossier was accurate and much of it has been proven correct.. We know Putin wanted Trump to win because Mueller and even Putin himself told us so. You were "snookered" into believing that Trump was not compromised by welcoming help from Russia. You do know there is no free lunch and Trump must reciprocate for what Putin did for him. That doesn't bother you?

Russia did it in 16' and they're doing it in 20'. Yet how much have we heard from Trump and other Repub leaders about all the new steps in combatting this huge new threat to our security? We all know Don doesn't like to talk about the 16' election, least they question his win. Is it surprising he's doing it again?

Nothing wrong with using Repubs ignorance of this threat, or their refusal to acknowledge and create the new weapons needed to fight it as a political weapon...

"Ukraine did it" is direct from the Russian GRU. (military intelligence)
This is confirmed by Trump appointee Fiona Hill, plus seventeen US intelligence agencies, which by the way have already BRIEFED Republicans in closed door classified sessions.

They were also briefed in closed door sessions by the following who testified IN ADDITION TO their public appearances.

Marie Yovanovitch
Fiona Hill
George Kent
Michael McKinley
Gordon D. Sondland
William Taylor
Laura Cooper
Philip Reeker
Alexander S. Vindman
Tim Morrison

So, Republicans ALREADY KNOW this is a fact.
And they're still pumping this nonsense anyway, which for me at least, is the textbook definition of "acting as an unregistered foreign agent".

Ergo, Republicans in Congress are, with few exceptions, unregistered foreign agents working for the Kremlin.

Seriously? You're going to accept what Russian INTELLIGENCE says?

listening to self-serving bureaucrats of questionable loyalty is not "being briefed".

Strangler was just saying where the story came from. Trump and his MAGA comrades are the ones who accept and disseminate the propaganda.
