Many people hold that the government doesn't create jobs, I think they do, they create red tape jobs. Government adds rules and regulation, taxes and such that forces companies to hire additional staff to deal with the new rules and regs.

My question to you, is this a positive thing or a negative when you take into account all it does and doesn't do?

Give me specific jobs and some actual data. Show your work. Otherwise this is just another inane yammering thread.

Please point to something specific and why you think that it shouldn't exist or be regulated at all.

Seat belts in cars, it was regulated into existence by the govt. out of safety concerns, some feel the govt. should let people make their own choices about there use. A point always made is, MC riders don't need them or aren't forced to wear inflatable body suits incase they get thrown from their cycle.

Building codes, any number of them often makes one scratch their head, my hand rail on the stairs must be connected to the wall and each end to prevent someone with a handbag from getting snagged, this creates a new product line, someone has to add this rule into a code book, print them, distribute etc.

I'll give you nothing, if you don't like the question as it stands don't click on it again, see, personal responsibility.

As a percentage of work hours for most companies, red tape is not that big of a percentage. Don't get me wrong, it does cost money, and its a lot of money when you add them all up. The most negative effect is that time factor - the amount of man hours it takes for companies to comply.

I've seen this argued both ways, that it's a good thing because it creates jobs, as you state, and that it's a bad thing because it's a drain on economic resources that could otherwise go into increasing GDP.

As a small business owner, I go toward the latter rather than the former.

As far as answering your OP question, you would need to provide a hell of a lot of more data and detail for us to even begin to discuss your question.

This thread reminds me of those threads where school kids get on here and ask an open ended question that obviously is a school assignment that they want us to do the work.

Actually, no.

As the OP it's your responsibility to formulate a position and either defend it or attack it and ask that we do the same, based on the evidence and data, that YOU provide. It isn't our responsibility to both make your argument as well as debate it for you.

I would say under the circumstances you state above, the most accurate correction to that statement would be - "You gave us nothing. If you don't want to do what is necessary to create a thread worth posting to elicit the engagement of the DP membership, then don't create the thread, see, personal responsibility."

Maybe don’t be so dickish?

Not a kid, no school work here. Just a simple question that people seem to want to complicate. I'm asking for opinions just as you very nicely gave. Thank you.

Read where I gave details in post #4 to one member, I just don't cave into demands from demanding members that have proven themselves to act foolish in the past.

Maybe don’t be so dickish?
Maybe if that member would take that advise I wouldn't be having this conversation with you now. It's personal with he and I, best not to throw your hat in the ring.

That makes you a troll, why?

“best not to throw my hat in the ring” That’s your ‘warning’ to me and I’m the troll? You are racking up adversaries here, why?

I'll give you nothing, if you don't like the question as it stands don't click on it again, see, personal responsibility.

You create idiotic rant threads, then you don't answer any questions to you. Be personally responsible for these dumb threads.

2 trolls, notice that the thread now has taken a course not intended. MODS here should be cleaning this up. I don't see anyone RANTING, I see a question that isn't to your liking. I don't see mods saying it doesn't measure up, who are you the forum Nazi's?

You see, that calls for the operation of ones mind, you don't have that ability. Try sticking to the facts.

Your threads are just you making random rants, they suck. And you won't answer any questions, you just want to hear yourself.

You made a posts, we asked for specifics, you gave nothing.
