As a parent how important to you is whether or not your kids when they grow up (or if they are already), sharing the same or very similar political and ideological beliefs that you have?
I’m a conservative Libertarian and it’s important that my girls have the same political beliefs that I do. I think some incorrectly believe that political beliefs are malleable and can change with the winds and, thusly, are unimportant.
This is not the case.
Political beliefs--like religious beliefs--are critical to the individuals future. Both determine if their lives will be one spent in Heaven or Hell.
I was speaking to a young woman about a month ago about what a piece of crap Obama is and she smiled and expressed that she thought he was a great President but that was “just her opinion”.
She was wrong, of course, but not just about Obama being a great President but also about it being “just her opinion”. Her opinion is a product of her beliefs and her beliefs are formed based on her ability to think properly.
And for her to think that Obama is a good President reflects that she is unable (or unwilling) to think critically.
So is it important that my girls share my beliefs.
Yes, because it is important to me that they think critically.
