Putting American flags on police cars sparks backlash in Laguna Beach

This entire piece strikes me as nothing more than people actively looking for reasons remove the US flag under the thin guise of "it looks Aggressive, offensive, misleading, ( insert excuse of choice)…..because, really, thats what keeps people awake at night?

More faux outrage?

It's more the whining reasons that are bothersome. If the city wants their police cars to have a more docile and friendly look they certain can do so. But the little USA flag doesn't make their police cars more scary to criminals. The flashing lights and siren are what are scary.

From OP article:

“They are so filled with hatred toward this ... office of the president of the United States and the current occupant of that office,” she said, “that they cannot see through their current biases to realize that a police vehicle with the American flag is the ultimate American expression.”

:lamo Because of TDS they cannot "realize" a police vehicle with the American flag is the ultimate American expression. TDS must be why no one else does it.

The ultimate American expression.

A police vehicle.

Realize.

My apologies for the flag crack.

I guess it looks like Feds to me because no other cop cars, city county or state, sport flags.

And, to be clear, my jurisdiction is not merely federal. User title: global.

If we don't put American flags on police cars, how are we going to know that they don't come from Russia? Or Singapore? Or Norway? (Liberals will stop at nothing) We must have American flags on American police cars so that we have some assurance that they really contain American police.

Our polis cars have blue and yellow markings to remind us we are in Sweden .... but wait! The Ukrainian flag is also Blue and yellow! Are we being lied to? Whats that weird language the cops are speaking?

Putting American flags on police cars

No difference in putting the American flag on civilian vehicles. I have one on mine. I've seen a few on my local municipal vehicles as well. It's not a issue unless you make it one.

Why the obsession with flags everywhere you look in America? Do you need reminding where you live or something?

That's quite a clever excuse for being against having an American flag displayed on a police car, but an excuse is precisely what it is...

You see, we all know you got a degree in the humanities and a certain level of disdain toward the United States is a prerequisite for graduating, along with knowing how best to safely burn an American flag.

People who think burning a flag should land you in prison really shouldn't talk about "disdain toward the United States."

Is there a reason why taxpayers should pay for the police to imply more authority than they possess with this paint job?

None of our cop cars, in the entire country (the size and population of all of Europe), have a flag on them. Tens of thousands of cop cars across the country, city county and state, and none have flags. Except these nine.

Now, if none of your cop cars had the Swedish flag, except one, do you think maybe that might possibly indicate something?

You guys had better look into this. If your cops are speaking Ukrainian how are you going to bull**** your way out of speeding tickets? That would be my main concern anyway.

Why do you lie about people?

Are your beliefs really so weak and pathetic that lies are your only option?

I have never in my life supported jail time for flag burners.

Wow, the mental gymnastics necessary to come up with an excuse for supporting such a feeble position, makes me glad every single day that I'm a conservative... It's nice to have beliefs that are sound and don't require lies and making silly arguments to prop up.

I never would have guessed that a conservative would be so sensitive to questioning why the taxpayers should be on the hook for unnecessary custom paint jobs.

If our cops ARE Ukrainian I expect that a modest bribe would work wonders.

Oh dear, I seem to have committed a hate crime! What's those flashing blue lights (thinks: why not blue and yellow?) outside the house?

LMAO

yep some people will cry about anything . .

Same thing happen in Pittsburgh when a few cars were painted for gay pride month. It wasnt even anything "new" a few Pittsburgh police cars have been and will continue to be painted for various events.
Some people just always need something to complain about

So are you saying that it's ok for a cop car to show gay pride, but not ok to show American pride...
or are you saying both are ok...
or are you just attacking me for starting this thread?

.

1.) im glad you are asking instead of accusing but how does one even rationally come to idea that your questions makes any rational sense LMAO
my post clearly groups the people crying together as the issue . . no that not what im saying LMAO
2.) both are fine, anybody bothered by it are the ones with the problem. Pittsburgh has been doing this for a while and locally where i live the american flag on first responder vehicles is commonplace and had been since for decades.
3.) again thats just nonsensical:lamo

Generally, I'd say we agree... The only thing I'll point out is that American pride represents everyone, while gay pride celebrates a very small percentage of the population and crosses into political territory.

That said, I don't have a problem with either.

and you are right i totally disagree because gay pride represents us all because it IS american pride. The rainbow is about unity and equality. Its American freedom and about equal rights that we all benefit from. If a person is for equal rights they really arent for american pride.

But more to you point i guess this is all the things pittsburgh did in 2017 that i know of:

Police Memorial Week
Special Olympics
Cancer Awareness
Domestic Violence Awareness
Veterans Day
Black History Month
St. Patrick's Day
Autism Awareness
Gay Pride

I have no issues with any of those especially since the decals are voted for by committee/community and are paid for by donations and fundraisers so i still feel the same way anybody bothered by those has the issue..

I guess if the temporary decals were of something negative and threatening i could change my view on it though.
