Puerto Rico Death tolls was a lie

Wait...do YOU believe 3000 people died in the hurricane?

I believe most of the 3000+ died as a result of the aftermath of the hurricane.

Wait...do YOU believe 3000 people died in the hurricane?

That really seems to be the discrepancy there.

Administration seems to be talking about the actual hurricane (a short time) and the study is counting 80 plus years olds with a smoking history a year and a half out( a good while).

apples and oranges. Lies, damned lies, and statistics.

They may be both right to a degree but not talking about the same things.

How to lie with statistics.

This is footage right after the hurricane. One might think they should focus on the 3k dead people rather than the recovery efforts.

People may not even be willfully attempting to create a deception here but were just tied up in their own perspectives.

Another example of the general disconnect in the country.

Well...that would make sense. ****ty island infrastructure that was breaking down BEFORE the storm, horrible local response with literally WAREHOUSES full of food and supplies that they sat on and didnt distribute til they went bad...

Thats not 'the hurricane'. Thats inept Puerto Rican government at the national and local levels. Embarrassingly inept.

And yet the Moron-in-Chief is screaming about fake news on the 3,000 death.

I'm sure, much like with Katrina, all levels of government failed to some extent.

Even you dont believe the hurricane caused 3000 deaths. You also dont believe FEMA and the Trump administration is responsible for 3000 deaths. Perhaps as many as 3000 may well have died but if that number is accurate it is because of the inept local response and distribution of supplies. JUST like Katirna...the people actually RESPONSIBLE for the local response abandoned their people and then blamed the fed. Sadly...far too many mindless partisan muppets just lap that **** up.

Read the authors' commentary in the study. I did.
Let me know what you think after you've digested the whole thing, mK?

Stop the lying and deflecting, please. You've read nothing, and you know it. In typical fashion for most right wing Know-Nothings, you're just running from my challenge.

I just have to :lamo at right wingers like you who like to pretend they've read things when it is so obvious they have not.

There is NOTHING in the study that implies ANY kind of "left-leaning bias" of any kind. There is a standard disclosure in the Executive Summary....and that's it. There is no other "commentary".

So AGAIN I will ask you (for the 2nd time now).........If you can find ANY evidence of "left leaning bias" ("internal" or other)........POST IT, or hush up.

And more importantly, the study has been peer-reviewed. So unless you're going to imply another bat-crap crazy, right wing conspiracy theory like "it's all just another liberal academia plot to discredit Trump", etc.........you're just being FOS on this one, Acadia.:lamo

Obama has a genuine birth certificate now or is he still showing people that apparent forgery through a dark glass like before? I've never known a person like Obama with so many problems proving his past to be what he claims it was.

Wow.

I must say that I've never met a birther who was not, at his core, just a closeted bigot motivated primarily by feelings of white victimhood, cultural anxiety, and racial resentment.....but too much of a coward to just own it.

Let me ask, how many times have you said, or felt agreement with the phase: "I want my country back"?

Legitimate law enforcement officers have called for an examination of Obama's purported birth certificate but the democrat response has always been something like: 'We do not have to show any of you deplorables any proof whatsoever that what we say is true actually is true.'

:lamo

No, they haven't.

But a few renegade law-enforcement people (like convicted felon Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona)....and a few Tea Party type right wing politicians have. And it's no small coincidence that all of those people are well-known for their racial bigotry and hostility.

Few people still take their views seriously because most people recognize them for who/what they are.

And the ONLY people who still cling to old, discredited, bat-crap crazy, racist conspiracy theories about Barack Obama are people with serious emotional "issues" with regard to race.

But we can at least agree on one point. Deplorables is the a term that fits nicely to describe the people we're talking about.

That which is asserted without evidence or explanation can be dismissed without evidence or explanation.

so you can't claim bias.

Almost 3,000 people were killed by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. The total, which was estimated using a full government-supplied data set and a complex model, will likely be cited as the most reliable account of the death toll. It is presented in a similar way to previous estimates. As in other studies, the GW researchers essentially modeled what the death rate in Puerto Rico would’ve looked like if Maria hadn’t hit, and then used that number from September to the following February as a baseline.

so yea they do not have official results the results were computer modeled and estimated.
we do not have official numbers from PR on how many people actually died.
the official death toll is about 70.

so how you go from 70 to 3000 without actual body counts or missing counts etc is beyond me.

yes the entire study was and the deaths were computer modeled just as the OP said.
they are not official deaths we don't now official deaths.

the last known number was 64 death directly related to the hurricane.

I haven't heard anyone say the hurricane directly caused the deaths. All I've seen is the so-called president throw a hissy-fit over the statistic.

"Hissy fit"...

If HE is throwing a "hissy fit" your daily episodes of pissing yourself over his comments must be ****ing EPIC.

"computer model", huh?

When it comes to It's sometimes so hard to tell if the problem with Trump acolytes is one of ignorance or ideology.

I guess you didn't read what was posted. It is right there in black and white.

It says a the total was estimated using a full government supplied data set and a complex model.

Then right below. They estimated what the death rate was if it didn't hit and used that as a base line.
You shouldn't comment about ignorance when you ignore the fact right in front of you.

You equating the musings/comments of an online poster to the statements of a so-called president is hilarious.

I read it. The difference is that I also understand it.

You, on the other hand, don't even understand why your previous remarks were so funny.

No worries, though. Don't worry your pretty little head, ok?

evidently you don't understand it as the death count was in fact generated by computer modeling.
it isn't an official count or accurate count.

so you must be laughing at yourself.

When George Washington University now admits that they never visited Puerto Rico, and used computer modeling to get the result, I'd say it's pretty well made up. PR has U.S. spec record keeping. Show me the death certificates. Otherwise, it's suspect.

Oh no! Facebook must have turned off their Russian propaganda filter! Damn it zuckerberg!!!, Stay on the Ball, will you!

I guaranteed you didn't read it, right wingers never do, they just spout idiot talking points they get from fox news, don't have the intelligence to actually read and understand science

You consider this GW report science, good grief. All were estimates from 60 to 4800 by a Harvard guru. Take your pick.
Disregard the fact the the administration did everything the could possibly do to alleviate THE PAIN SUFFERED on the island.

You equating the musings/comments of an online poster to the statements of a so-called president is hilarious.
No...what is hillarious is watching all those online posters covered head to toe in **** pointing at him and saying "look what HE stepped in!" Its ****ing embarrassing watching supposed adults excusing their behavior because THEY arent the president.

Why they even tossed them paper towels to clean up the mess the storm made! Seriously, it seems that the University had help on the island in the form of other agencies on site to help with their study.

Take heart. Trump had never visited the dozens of countries he referred to as ****holes.
