I think the thing missing though is that the things Trump is or isnt doing during this crisis are going to matter at election time. Many of those on that ship are not going to be happy being stuck there or in another quarantine for a month or more (which is realistically what would be needed). They are voters, they have family and friends who are voters. Trump still needs more than his base to win. Those who have people die from this are going to be more likely to remember. Someone like the guy here in NC and his family. He is unlikely to die, but his relative in the WA nursing home might or might tell him how bad it was that their friends died (and honestly it really wasnt Trumps fault they died, but people can and will blame him anyway). Plus most of those dying are/will be generally conservative voters.

But those who are going to vote for Trump come hell or high water arent the ones up for grabs right now. It is those who are on the fences, those who may just tolerate a Dem in office even if they dont vote for them but also dont vote for Trump. It is convincing those Dems (especially Bernie Bros, assuming he doesnt get the nom, or other diehards for their candidate who isnt ...) that Trump is that bad to vote for whichever Dem against him.

The cruise ship appears to be being released to land soon (even if not from quarantine).

I dont expect the diehard Trump supporters to change their minds. Not for the most part. But there are some who are more of content with the status quo, unless the status quo negatively affects them in some way.
