For example, years ago Target told their employees that they could no longer say "Merry Christmas". There are many other businesses that have done the same thing. Even if someone doesn't celebrate Christmas, it's meant for that person to have a good time of that part of the year. I know someone that doesn't celebrate Halloween, and thinks it's too demonic, but when I tell him "Happy Halloween" he knows for him I mean that time of year. Even Orthodox Jews like Dennis Prager and Ben Shapiro aren't offended by "Merry Christmas" and I know that Prager actually prefers that saying over the other. I'm not sure if Shapiro prefers it himself as well but I know he's not offended. I'm Christian and I wouldn't be offended if someone told me "Happy Hanukkah". I'm a previous atheist and still didn't mind "Merry Christmas" back then.
So, no one told you that you couldn’t say, “Merry Christmas”. A company told its employees, that while they are working and representing the company, they are to greet people in a particular way that they want. No different from them dictating a script like, “Hi! Welcome to McDonald’s, can I take your order, please?”
What a pretty and unique snowflake Christianity is.
