So this dummy in Lufkin, Texas, encouraged by her boyfriend, opened a half-gallon of Blue Bell's tin roof ice cream and licked it. And then posted the vid clip and bragged about it on social media because she wants to be famous. Noted that now Blue Bell could be called "Flu Bell" because she'd recently been a "lil sick."

From the Dallas Morning News:

Tampering with consumer products, including food and drugs, is a felony offense in Texas, but the state's penal code specifies that tampering means altering or adding something to the product "to make it probable that the consumer product will cause serious bodily injury."

Threatening to tamper with a consumer product to affect its sale or to cause fear is a third-degree felony. Police plan to file charges over video showing woman licking Blue Bell ice cream at Texas Walmart | Texas | Dallas News

I expect this kind of story from another poster......

I'm no lawyer, and I could defend this case in my sleep.

It was an act, and they purchased the ice cream after they made their video.

Where's my check?

Proof that the Florida Man meme needs to be extended to the other 49 states!

I wanted to make a joke based on Blue Bell's motto (like old times, or something similar). So I go to their homepage to find the motto and this pops up:

We have identified a Walmart in Lufkin, Texas, as the store where the malicious act of food tampering took place. Our staff recognized the location in the video, and we inspected the freezer case. We found a Tin Roof half gallon that appears to have been compromised. Based on security footage, the location and the inspection of the carton, we believe we may have recovered the half gallon that was tampered with. Out of an abundance of caution, we have also removed all Tin Roof half gallons from that location.

The Lufkin Police Department has been notified and is taking over the investigation.

The safety of our ice cream is our highest priority, and we work hard to maintain the highest level of confidence of our customers. Food tampering is not a joke, and we will not tolerate tampering with our products. We are grateful to the customers who alerted us and provided us with information.
Home - Blue Bell Creameries

They seem serious.

Ps. I'll find the motto and see about a joke.

Lucky she did not get shot as Florida is a Stand Your Ground State...

It totally bothers me that some ice cream companies are too cheap to put that shrink wrap band on the lid so this doesn’t happen. Not that word is out, what is the next person going to use? Cyanide? White lead?

My twin 5 yr old grandsons lick donuts, but they also lick furniture, books, other people, Dog, the cat, and we keep the bathroom doors locked when they are here.

Consumers are now asking for a seal. Blue Bell has explained the process of how they establish a natural seal (by flipping the containers upside down during the freezing process, so now I understand why there is always quite a bit of ice cream frozen to the lid).

Where's my check?

Where's your evidence?

I haven't clicked on the links but in a perfect world there's only a 14.1% chance I'm right about this...

She's an undocumented ice cream buyer. Where's your humanity you heartless people?

Just seal up the dang ice cream container. Simple.

Where's your evidence?

Evidence is the prosecutor's problem.

I wouldn't need to prove the gal is telling the truth. They'd need to prove she was lying.

Now I won't say that's impossible, seeing as how Blue Balls claims they retrieved the specific tub of ice cream, and there's DNA potential, but seeing as how they have taken it into their custody, I could see all sorts of ways that could be challenged, and of course they'd need a court order to get the DNA testing accomplished.

With that revelation and some effort, they could probably win.

Honestly, the girl should have bought the tub for real.

May be we should ask why did what she did because she wants to be famous. Why not get a life?

A lot of younger folk in particular have been raised thinking that YouTube fame is the fastest way to fame.

I don't see this incident as so horrifying, really. Gross, sure, but probably not nearly so icky as the things all of us have eaten without realizing it.

Dummasses kicked God out of public schools years ago and look at what kinds of dirty lip-smacking amoral morons those schools are turning out today.

Wow. You'd make an exceptionally crap lawyer.

Well, set me straight. How would the prosecution overcome this argument?

I described how I think it could go a bit later in this thread.

marke, you have done it again. if only we still had prayer in public school, this incident would not have happened
who can possibly argue with such a comprehensive and compelling argument

Banning the teaching of Biblical principles in schools has helped turn impressionable kids away from God and towards savage barbarianism, and that is a very bad thing.

Of course, I shan't name it.

But here in Los Angeles, there's a prominent ice cream company that sells its cartons of ice cream in supermarkets without a security seal that must be broken in order to open the carton.

It's beyond me that the company would take a chance of being sued if some nut job were to dangerously alter the product before an unsuspecting customer bought it.

I'm not sure I know what Biblical principles were taught back in the day; I don't recall any. We said the Lord's Prayer and the Pledge at the beginning of the day, but after that, it was academics in the classroom. I don't see how not saying prayers in school turns anybody away from God or toward barbarism or how it's the fault of a school if one of its students behaves poorly as an adult, but I do know that it's parents' responsibility to teach their values and beliefs to their children. If you want your child's school to reinforce your particular religious beliefs, you send that child to a private Baptist or Lutheran or whatever school or homeschool.

But this is a thread about food-tampering, and what this immature ice cream-licking dummy did is threaten public safety. She tried to start a competition (to make herself famous), and she hoped to create an epidemic. Pretty sociopathic. I doubt that she will be, but I hope she's convicted of a felony and sits her fine self in prison for a couple of years and also that she becomes super-duper famous as a dumb screwup who shouldn't emulated.
