Police: No protesters hurt, driver taken to hospital after truck drives into crowd on I-35W in Minne

Its only stand your ground when its a white guy “standing his ground” dont ya know?

Not at all, it's stand your ground until the threat is neutralized,

Anyone care to tell me how much threat there is in an idling truck?

It wasnt idling like a parked truck lol.

A lot

It can always be shifted into gear and start moving again.

Yes, it can be, and in about 10 minutes, get up to full speed.....

Are you telling me that in 10 minutes, you can't get out of the way?

it does not need to get up to full speed. 30 mph in a crowded and confined area is enough to kill quite a few people. The road in front of the truck had a lot of people on it with no where to go if I recall correctly as it was at an elevated section

Do you know how long an 80,000 truck takes to get to even 30 mph?

If a trucker drove through a militia blockade would you start a thread?

I wouldn't have to. Once it hits Fox there would be about 20 from conservatives. Probably most of them blaming Obama.

Luckily, it would appear that this was unintentional. I'm actually glad it is.

? Really? Once it was stopped, what was it doing?

Ummm truck drives through crowd on closed street. You figure it out lol. It was a gas truck as well.

It doesn't matter if it was loaded or unloaded. The freeway was closed and he went around the barriers.

Can you document that, or are you just jumping to conclusions? My understanding is how he got on the interstate was being investigated and hasn't been announced publicly.

"... One motorist said she encountered no barricades blocking traffic onto the bridge moments before the truck sliced through the crowd. Meaghan Pezon was driving north on 35W and saw many cars going the wrong way toward her.

"I was confused and knew I should probably turn around, but there was no good place for me to do it," she said. "My car was surrounded by protesters. When a protester first approached me, there were no police, no barricades, no indication that 35 was closed."

As police swarmed in and protesters dispersed, she exited on an entrance ramp.

"I really had no idea what was happening on the bridge," she said. "I just thought I was going home."

Well, that should put a damper on everyone who claimed the trucker broke through the barrier ... :)

Just for additional information:

"... But he (Governor Walz) said preliminary information suggests Vechirko somehow got ahead of traffic officials as they were closing the freeway down in sections. He noted the driver braked as he rolled past protesters.

'The driver was frustrated,' Walz said. 'They close in sections and he got ahead of people.'

Public Safety Commissioner John Harrington said traffic cameras show the driver was already on the freeway before it was closed.

'From what we can tell in our interviews, we have not had any information that makes this seem like this was an intentional act,' Harrington said. 'It wasn't that he went around barricades to get at the protest.' ..."

George Floyd: Man who drove into protestors 'was confused' | Daily Mail Online

From your artciles,

"The state Department of Transportation had shut down interstates at 5 p.m., so it remained unclear how the truck got on the interstate.

During a late night press conference Corrections Commissioner Paul Schnell said there were traffic diversions in place during the protest. "It appears as though the driver attempted to get around, did get around and ultimately entered that area,” he told reporters."

Translation - WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED.

From your 2nd article "A witness said he saw the truck "barreling down, blaring its horn" without appearing to have any intention of stopping, as protesters gathered peacefully on Interstate 35W.

"You heard a horn," he told KARE 11's Boyd Huppert. "It was barreling into that crowd and they were separating, just parting, thankfully."

Translation - NOT ON PURPOSE, there is no other explanation of him blaring his horn, other than to warn people he was coming....

"State Corrections Commissioner Paul Schnell said at a later briefing, however, that the truck went around a traffic barrier to stay on the road."

Now you have articles contradicting the facts.

As far as the truck being stopped, it was stopped, it's not a corvette, it doesn't go from zero to 60 in 3 seconds, it would take a good while before it got up to speed again, it was neutralized from being a threat

It also says that he still got around a barricade that was up beyond where he was parked originally.

And they have since found that was wrong, that there was no barricade put up by the time he passed, does that change your views?

I am pointing out what the article said...you conveniently left that out.

A person has control of 80,000 lbs, he saw the protesters and he drove into the middle of them with a truck loaded with fuel. As I pointed out my biological mother and step father drove trucks for 36 years. My ex husband drove trucks and in fact we co owned 4 of them up until 2011 when we split ways. If one of my drivers had done this he would never be able to work in this industry again. You don't look at the end of your nose, you look AHEAD and are ready for the worst while hoping for the best. A driver in Colorado lost his brakes and drove into several cars on a freeway during a snowstorm. He killed a few people and went to jail for it. Did he mean to? No, but guess what at the end of the day, he was responsible for that truck and preventing things like that happening.

So, instead of changing your mind, you are going to double down, even though authorities are now saying this was not deliberate.

As far as the guy in Colorado, you know why he went to jail? Is because the there was ZERO MAINTENANCE done on that truck, not because his brakes failed and he hit people, but don't let facts get in your way.

on a truck he didn't own....do not let facts get in your way.

Doesn't matter if he owns it or not, is it not the driver responsibility to do pre-trip and post-trip, and inform his safety manager of ongoing issues?

he has no control over what they refuse to do. The owner didn't get any charges...he doesn't own the truck, he is an employee. That is like you being charged by OSHA for your company not following OSHA guidelines.
For all you know he had changed trucks and the maintenence logs were falsified by the owner. It is quite normal for drivers that are employees to change from one truck to another.

He absolutely has control, he can refuse to drive an unsafe truck.....

investigators do not believe the crash was intentional. Aguilera-Mederos now faces at least four charges of vehicular homicide and reckless driving related to the crash. Published reports indicate Aguilera-Mederos told investigators that his brakes failed while driving down the hill.

Castellano's vehicle out-of-service rate, 23.1%, is 2.4% above the national average,

So your zero maintenance on the truck allegation is a lie.

I think it's safe to say that further investigation will reveal this driver had little or no mountain driving training. He hails from Houston Texas, which is flatter than pee on a plate. Even if they had wanted to, no driving school in that part of the country could have prepared him for the likes of the grades he would face in Colorado's High Country. In fact, there are very few places in the U.S. where drivers can get mountain driving training.

Pretty safe to say Aguilera-Mederos had nothing like that kind of training. In fact, one of his friends told a TV station that Aguilera-Mederos was thrilled when he was hired by Castellanos 03 Trucking just two weeks before the crash, because the new job allowed him to drive truck outside of Texas, which meant more money.

he had been with the company 2 weeks. I doubt he was neglecting the maintenance on the truck for a long period since he wasn't even employed there a full month
