What the hell is going on? Is this the beginning of the end, or are we well beyond the halfway point?

Not this **** again.

Locusts are edible. People need to suck it up.

Miller moths are especially high in our area too. I suspect it was due to an unseasonably warm winter. We had cold days but no brutally cold days here. Maybe India had something similar where more insects survived than normal.

No biggie in and of itself...it's when all these signs appear within one generation, one should pay attention...the faster we approach the end, the faster and closer together they'll become...like the birth pangs of a pregnant woman...

They occur together because they both result from ecological imbalance.

Which is merely another sign...we are ruining the earth but God will step in to stop that from happening...

"But the nations became wrathful, and your own wrath came, and the appointed time came for the dead to be judged and to reward your slaves the prophets and the holy ones and those fearing your name, the small and the great, and to bring to ruin those ruining the earth.” Revelation 11:18

While there are spiritual aspects or ramifications of our debauchery, it's important to remember we caused these things and how.

Good point...it began in the garden when Adam and Eve said they did not need God's direction, that they could decide for themselves what is right and wrong...

Our current ecological destruction encompasses more than the trees.

While I assume she's speaking theologically, I think we can safely apply her words metaphorically or philosophically.

Once or twice every thousand years...at least.

We are hearing about this around here more like once or twice a week... someone starts coughing and the end of the world hopefuls start quoting the bible.

That's why I go with the term spiritual. I mean the things that come from before and go on. Our spirit, our soul, our meaning that remains even after our bodies pass. That stuff is important and part of this (monocultures begin in the mind), but we cannot lose sight of the ground and what we have done to change it.

Maybe these things on their own are normal ecological phenomena and once in a while, they occur simultaneously within a short period of time as am exceptional case.

Don't need gods to step in. Nature will do it for us in due time. Just ask the dinosaurs. They ruled the globe for over 150 million years until...well, until they didn't.

**** looked like the end for real when Revelation was written. Nero fiddled, Rome burned and the plague was killing millions all over Europe and Western Asia. Clearly, those were the end times as far as that author was concerned.

Jesus addressed how we will know the difference...

“Now learn this illustration from the fig tree: Just as soon as its young branch grows tender and sprouts its leaves, you know that summer is near. Likewise also you, when you see all these things, know that he is near at the doors. Truly I say to you that this generation will by no means pass away until all these things happen." Matthew 24:32-34

But God's purpose in the beginning was for the earth to be inhabited by man...man's interruption of the ecosystem is destroying man himself...there are some things nature cannot fix, as long as man abuses it...

And how do I know the difference between "the end is nigh" and when these separate ecological phenomena line up?

At that time, was Revelation 11:18 fulfilled? No, just as much of Revelation was not fulfilled at that time...
