Pelosi Warns of ‘New Stage’ of Inquiry if Trump Blocks Whistle-Blower Complaint - The New York Times

Without mentioning impeachment, Speaker Nancy Pelosi said President Trump’s refusal to hand over the whistle-blower complaint would trigger a “new chapter of lawlessness.”

“The administration is endangering our national security and having a chilling effect on any future whistle-blower who sees wrongdoing,” Speaker Nancy Pelosi wrote in a letter on Sunday.

WASHINGTON — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday called on the Trump administration to promptly turn over a secret whistle-blower complaint said to relate to President Trump’s attempts to press Ukraine to investigate his leading Democratic presidential rival, warning that a refusal to do so could force the House to open a new phase in its investigation of him.

In a letter to fellow House Democrats, Ms. Pelosi never mentioned the word “impeachment,” but her remarks appeared to hint at the possibility that the newest revelations about Mr. Trump’s conduct — and the administration’s refusal to share the complaint with Congress — might be enough to prompt her and other leading Democrats to drop their resistance to moving forward with official charges against the president.

Now that this cat is finally out of the bag, I wonder where the country will go next?

A new level of inquiry...DefCon 11?

I'd say that since no intelligence person who has first-hand knowledge of this supposed bombshell, credible and concerning allegation has come forth, that chilling effect bit is a bunch of horse crap.

"New stage of inquiry"? without mentioning "impeachment"? “new chapter of lawlessness” ?

:lamo

She might as well have said "we will look funny at you again"!

just more 3rd and 4th party hearsay that would never be included in any trial as evidence.
just the kangaroo court of nadler and pelosi.

Kangaroo courts were led by I$$A. Ukraine has two guns to their head, one from Trump and the one currently killing Ukrainians from Putin. Trump is a traitor, just like Nixon during the 1968 election.

Pelosi is demonstrating what little she can actually do here... at best, even with a plethora of political maneuvering, about all she can accomplish is articles of impeachment and I am still not convinced she has the votes to even do that.

All she has is more things to say during her press conferences, and hope Independents show up for whoever gets the DNC nod.

I'm sure Democrats will be writing extremely stern letters tomorrow.

Most especially when the Ukranian leadership says it never happened.

And if a President can be compelled to make public any communication he/she has with another head of state, what heads of state anywhere in the world would be willing to have a private conversation with our President? Privacy is paramount if two world leaders are to be able to discuss and speak candidly about sensitive issues that should never be made public.

Then there's no reason to withhold the whistleblower's complaint from the House Intelligence Committee. Except, apparently, the complaint is so damaging, that the DNI is willing to break the law and obstruct oversight to prevent anybody from learning of that complaint.

The Democrats/Left/MSM/Deep State/whatever you want to call them, have been trying to disrupt this trust in Trump. Started as soon as he took office, with a call to Australia's leader, which got leaked.

Oh, dear, what level security clearance do YOU hold that you have this intelligence?

There is EVERY reason to withhold ALL information from a House Intelligence Committee when some of the members of that committee can't wait to rush to find a camera--ANY camera--to denounce the President and anything and everything he does. And the Congress should NEVER be able to force a President to provide a transcript of any private conversation he has with any foreign leader or we will never be trusted by any foreign leaders ever again.

P.S. The Ukranian leadership says there was never any pressure or untoward conversation about anything between them and President Trump. The whole issue is another fake news story made up out of whole cloth and attributed to 'anonymous sources' by the MSM.

Handing over classified or confidential information to Adam Schiffty is like handing it directly to Rachel Maddow.

You didn't get the memo?

The anti-Trump brigade's intelligence trumps all others'..... :Oopsie

Worse. She's usually too dumb to come up with anything original while he definitely has an active imagination and sees all sorts of things that aren't there.

I have the security clearance to go the Cornell Federal Law database.

50 U.S. Code SS 3033 - Inspector General of the Intelligence Community | U.S. Code | US Law | LII / Legal Information Institute

50 U.S. Code § 3033(k)(5)(c)

The unidentified whistleblower filed the complaint with the intelligence community inspector general, Michael Atkinson, on August 12. Federal law stipulates that the inspector general must investigate any report of an "urgent concern" by an employee of the intelligence community and determine whether it "appears credible" within two weeks. If it is, the inspector general must then report it to the director of national intelligence, whose office is responsible for overseeing the nation's 17 intelligence agencies.

The inspector general investigated the complaint and deemed it credible, forwarding it to the acting director as required, according to a letter from the inspector general released by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff.

Once the director receives the report, the law states he or she "shall, within 7 calendar days of such receipt, forward such transmittal to the congressional intelligence committees."

Whistleblower complaint: What to know about the report to the DNI involving Trump being kept from Congress - CBS News

So yes, the DNI is actively breaking the law right now. Which, for this administration, shouldn't be surprising in the least.

Now, of course you're going to just respond with something unbelievably stupid like, "Oh, has he been charged? Deerrrrrp."

Even if it means breaking the law?

Devin Nunes?

Schiff already stated this on TV.

Schiff states a LOT of things on TV--he's more eager to get in front of a camera than Maxine Waters and I thought there would never be anybody who could beat her at that. But so far, Schiff hasn't said much of anything about the President that even approximates the truth while he claims to have all sorts of evidence to condemn the President that he never ever brings forward.

The law, since you're clearly ignorant of it, states the the DNI shall hand it over to Congress. There is no reason and no accomodations in the law for it to be handed over to the DOJ first or ever.

Oh, dear. Yet again you have no idea what you're talking about.

Schiff's stated a lot of crap on tv. He lives on tv. In fact, I don't know if he exists without a camera in front of him.

Devin Nunes?

Devin Nunes has never claimed to have information that he doesn't have. And he has never betrayed the confidentiality of any meeting or shared information that is intended to be classified/confidential.

Schiff is owed a briefing about the "urgent" complaint being stonewalled by Trump and Barr.

You are confusing him with Lewandowski who testified he lies to the media.
