House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) joined in on the attack of Confederate statues and monuments last week when she released a statement on Thursday asking for House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) to remove all Confederate monuments from the U.S. Capitol.

On Wednesday morning, Ron Meyer, editor of Red Alert Politics, dropped a truth bombshell during his interview on “Fox and Friends.” Meyer stated:

The truth is, the Democrats have a pretty poor history on Civil Rights, including Nancy Pelosi’s own father who was the Mayor of Baltimore — and was one of the people who dedicated statues to Robert E. Lee and ‘Stonewall’ Jackson, and in his speech said that they defended ‘sacred institutions.’ What are those ‘sacred institutions?’ One of those is slavery.

I don't think the Democrats had far to fall. Maybe in perception but not in actuality. With all of this backward looking navel gazing, it seems memories are short.

• The KKK was essentially the provisional wing of the Democratic party.
• The party that implemented Jim Crow were the Democrats.
• The party that fought to fly confederate flags over capitols were Democrats (see Fritz Hollings).
• The party that filibustered the Civil Rights Act was the Democrats (see Al Gore Sr.)
• The party that sent Grand Kleagles from the KKK back to the Senate for decades were Democrats (see Robert Byrd)
• The party of "Segregation now. Segregation tomorrow. Segregation fo-ever" was the Democrats (see George Wallace)

But the Republicans (and apparently Libertarians if you read other threads on the board) are the REAL racists...
