Partisan Hate Is Becoming a National Crisis

SICK, SICK, SICK

Trump is to blame - 95% then.

The guy is sick, sick, sick. America's prime association of psychiatrists - who normally never comment a presidential candidate - did mention pre-election that most of them thought the guy had no business whatsoever in the White House!

Since that warning, they have gone even further. See here: "The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump" - excerpt:
Duty to Warn [is] an organization intent on warning our country that we are in dire trouble due to our president’s mental instability. More than 60,000 mental health professionals have signed John’s petition, which states:

“We, the undersigned mental health professionals, believe in our professional judgment that Donald Trump manifests a serious mental illness that renders him psychologically incapable of competently discharging the duties of President of the United States. And we respectfully request he be removed from office, according to article 4 of the 25th amendment to the Constitution, which states that the president will be replaced if he is ‘unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.’”

That is correct. Trump is indeed mentally ill and must be removed ASAP.

Sorry but it is way too little and way too late. We are at war with each other. Right now its just words and using the legal system to hurt each other. There is too much at stake for either side to stop. This "war" will not end till one side or the other is defeated or destroyed.

Eventually, both sides will be defeated

I have heard other people say that political division has affected their lives, relationships, and family get togethers. I am simply asking if it affects your personal life, but it's also an open ended question so you can define it differently than me.

I have no underlying motive in asking the question, other than observing you seem bothered by the division.

Shouldn't everyone be bothered by the division? Why does it have to be one way or the other? Why can't we all just meet in the middle and live in peace?

LOL. You know, one lesson I've learned from life is that it is almost always the side blaming the other side that is the one who is actually at fault. Trump never did anything except win the election from the annointed one and the left just can't deal with it. They so much wanted another eight years of Obama and continued liberal policies that it turned their stomach over and they have been throwing up ever since.

The left only blames a left over mechanism from the 1700's which was intended to thwart the will of those who are governed.

When Ronald Reagan won 49 out of 50 states vs Walter Mondale, the Democratic Party freaked. They decided they had to abandon their platform which had been so completely rejected by the people. They came up with a middle ground: Socially Liberal, Fiscally Conservative.

When Pat Buchanan announced he was running for President, he was considers a far right candidate. By today’s standards, he’s barely a moderate, and almost a Democrat.

Before Watergate, Richard Nixon and Ted Kennedy had a national health care plan they were arguing over. The argument wasn’t IF the government should dictate and pay for but how much should the government should dictate and pay for.

My point is that the political spectrum shifts. What is considered extreme can shift to become the middle and vice versa. So ultimately the middle is a fluid concept that is constantly shifting.

Democrats were never fiscally conservative.

Partisan hate is becoming a national crisis! Whatever shall we do?

The master troll is at it again...and the Trump haters are triggered. LOL!!

The Trump haters troll Trump daily. They shouldn't be surprised when he occasionally trolls them back...and does it better.

I'm not running from anything.

Heck, if anything I think it's quite pathetic how all of you Trump haters are so easily triggered every time Trump says something.

This is partisan hate. Give me enough time and I'll dig up another fifty or sixty of them.
I should not be required to LOVE a candidate and expressing my opinion on the things that candidate says and does isn't "partisan hatred". The above however, is partisan hatred.
That candidate RAN on trolling, runs the country on trolling. Trolling is why so many people LOVED that candidate, voted for that candidate and now that he is President, the reason why they SUPPORT him.

"Sticking it to the libtards" is now official national policy.

I don't hate anyone.

In my lifetime only two Presidents were fiscally conservative. Bush and Clinton.

Clinton was dragged by his throat by the Republican Congress's "Contract With America" to be fiscally conservative. I do give him credit though for going along with the will of the people who voted for Republican's Contract With America. I actually give him a lot of credit for that. It is called being bipartisan, something that both sides have thrown out the window for many years now. Now it's only about obstructionism and resistance. The hell with the will of the people.

I do not believe the Dems have thrown that out the window at all.

Being partisan is a tactic that when used by one side voids it's use by the other.

See Richard Mourdock and Mitch McConnell.

Putin read this and was overheard to say, "I love when a good plan comes together."

You sound pretty chummy with Putin. Where were you when Putin confided this, the DC DNC campaign headquarters? Do democrats really have a hot line to the Kremlin like some may have been "overheard to say?"

Good luck with that. The left are stuck in TDS anti-Trump resistance mode. I find it very telling that more Democrats than Republicans would like to see the other side just die off or that if the other side wins in 2020, violence would be justified. The left are going to view your request as an attempt to stop the Trump attacks and dismiss it.

Case in point.

America is in decay. I do not plan on living out the rest of my life here, and it's not just because of Trump and modern politics. America and the people are never focused on the right things or goals, issues that impact us all. Instead the people are divided and conquered, while money and corruption run the system. I have ran figures and done the math. I will retire better outside of the US.

I also just did my taxes, and I lost over 5000 in deductions. My taxes went up, for what, corporations and the wealthy.

I really don't know why people are allowing this to happen in America.

Very well said!!

Pelosi Has been saying that throughout Trumps presidency, she has not changed he position. It was the Democrat stretegy to only publicly speak about impeachment if it was warranted. As time went by Trump did things that many Democrat's considered impeachable. So many Democrats started calling for impeachment. Pelosi again reapplied the position that impeachment should be only done in cases that warranted it.

That is a setup for impeaching Trump, since she has made it clear that the Democrats will only impeach if its legit, when they write the articles of impeachment it will be more powerful that way. Its ignorant to view Pelosi's statement has an olive branch.

But the fighting between the Democrats and Republicans will only get worse, before it gets better. Republicans have expressed plenty of times that they enjoy the fact that Trump in office trolls the Democrats. The longer that trump is president the worse that situation will get. And every (actual) scandal that trump survives emboldens the Democrats.

Which brings me too my point (about time right?). The only person that benefits from partisan fighting is Trump and I hate to say, but Russia. This level of infighting that we are seeing is hurting both the Republican and Democrat parties and the nation as a whole. The more that those two parties fight it make sit easier for the President to place blame on them and not himself. And while Trump stokes the hate on Democrats we have to remember that he hates the establishment Republicans just as much. And while its still up for debate whether Trump is knowingly helping Russia, there is no doubt that all this infighting not only helps Russia, but is exactly what they wanted to happen. For the good of the country both political parties need to make amends; but they never will.

You have completely nailed it.

It does mine. I live with 2 guys who voted for Trump. I have family that are LGBTQ - their sister won't recognize their marriage. Makes for some interesting dinner conversations or we sit on our hands in an effort not to say something inflammatory, which God knows could be almost anything.

Your seeing what I am seeing, no? Then you know the answer to your question. People are already at the shindig. Its simply a matter of which match sets the whole thing ablaze.

Those of us on the left see things far differently than the right. For us, Russia is an issue - for the right?? They don't believe anything wrong happened. Enough witnesses have "died" . Questionable??
We see Trump doing what we consider "horrible" things to the country. His "relationship" with Putin for one. His "love affair" with KJU another. Who meets privately with Putin?? Really??
If Obama had done these things, the right would be screaming "off with his head" and rightly so. Trump gets a pass. He gets a pass on having a porn star wife. Two of his kids in the White House with security clearances that are questionable at best.
All of this seems to be ok with the right.
The right thinks Trump is a good businessman. He went bankrupt at least 4 times, leaving a lot of his contractors high and dry. The right pretends he is a Christian. They tell us God sent him. Well maybe God did - as the anti-christ.
I think most of us on the left see him as such a horrible horrible person that really doesn't care about anything unless it lines his own pockets.
Nixon honestly wasn't this terrifying. No other GOP president has ever been as bad as Trump not a one of them. Have they been questionable?? Yes. As bad as Trump?? No

I certainly feel the article is accurate and it addresses concerns I have had for a while. But I would be curious to know just how much things HAVE changed in the past decades. Are we actually more divided or has the internet and 24 hr news cycle just made us more aware of how divided we are? Maybe we have always been this divided but just didn't know it? In the past we lived in our geographical and cultural bubbles. But then things like social media started popping those bubbles and people who grew up with completely different assumptions about fairness and equality and right and wrong found themselves interacting with and observing the behavior of people who are radically different...and we didn't like it.

Technology has brought us all so much closer, but we still haven't overcome our tribalism, which is a product of our evolution and apparently not so easily ignored. It will take some kind of paradigm shift to fix things, but I think things will get worse before they get better, though I don't think we will resort to civil war. We are pissed off...but comfortable. War is uncomfortable. So we will continue to be pissed off and comfortable, waging our battles through nasty comments online.

I agree with this too.

If it's about individual character, the GOP has demonstrated individual accountability is no longer a part of being a republican. If that's not true, tell me how some on the right twist themselves into knots defending our president. How do the so called religious folks support a ***** grabbing serial lying person? How do fiscal conservatives not see the debt of the country rising? The tax breaks for the rich when he told us the middle class would get the biggest benefits of his tax cuts. The bigger, better, health care he told us we would have in place of the affordable care act. The wall that mexico is paying for and on and on. Let me be clear, it's not both parties. Until the republicans get their heads out of their rear ends and stop voting for people whose agenda is to pass laws to hurt the poorer parts of our society while enriching the already wealthy, there will be no compromise. Republicans used to bad mouth the dems and the dems hid their heads in fear. Now they fight back and people complain about our society being polarized. I blame republicans and make no bones about it.
