Ohio special election & primaries in Kansas, Michigan, Missouri and Washington state [Live Thread]

Re: Ohio special election & primaries in Kansas, Michigan, Missouri and Washington state [Live Threa

I hate the go against the third party mantra, saying you are helping x or voting for x by default or throwing your vote away is just fear mongering, the country holds the right to vote, and not the right to vote on 2 parties, if people choose 3rd party so be it, often people never agree with either major party.

It's either a democracy or it's not.

Do you see Republicans do that ****? Not very much. That's because they play to win, not to make statements nobody hears.

And just because you have a right to do something that is against your greater interest, it doesn't mean others have to respect your choices.

Actually, Libertarians in national elections I believe tend to perform better than green party candidates. At least in the presidential races usually.

This was a really close race, I hadn't expected the Dems to win, but I also didn't expect it to be so close. This is a district that had been GOP for decades I believe. It's not a great sign for Republicans that even their most secure seats are so tightly contested now. But we'll see. It does send a signal to the DNC that that GOP is vulnerable, and if they're smart [DNC], they can make some good gains in November.

Said by the guy who agreed that the Dems got this.

Too bad the Dems didn't get this... lolz

Ah yes... more gloat trolling from the right. Sore losers and sore winners. Can't wait for November. Turnabout is going to be fun.

Do you have a point? It makes it so much more interesting for readers when you have one.

Looks like Colyer is probably going to win the Republican primary for Kansas Governor even after Trump's endorsement of Kobach. Didn't expect that, but pleased.

I'd be happy with that. I know many think that Kobach would be easier to beat but I don't want to court danger again by running against a stupid candidate and that stupid candidate's base rallies.

You're right; sore losers and sore winners, and gloat-trolling is really unattractive.

But I'm not looking forward to November and, however it shakes out, don't think it's going to be any fun at all. This is a corrosive time in American politics--the unthinking, destructive polarization just repulses me.

Russia....the Green Party...the Green Party as Russian agents...

Maybe...just maybe...it was bad candidates or candidates running on "I hate Trump!" with no actual plan or...maybe...just maybe...they lost straight up, fair and square, like political contests that have been waged since democracy was created.

You're over thinking it. 3rd party voters are 3rd party voters. They will not bend.

I'm not...and I think the problem is not 'over' thinking...its wrong thinking.

Im a 3rd party voter and I agree...it takes a lot to get me to consider anyone from the 2 major parties.

Maybe not.

It's still neck and neck and it'll come down to the provisional ballots, it appears, which could take a while. Right now, Kobach is ahead by a very slim margin of under 200 votes, and Johnson County, the most populated county in Ks, is reviewing their votes because they used new voting machines.

Yeah I posted that when Colyer was up by a few votes and Johnson County was all that was left to report. Everyone was saying it was a Colyer stronghold. Still not quite sure what happened after I went to bed, but it looks like the race will be protracted for awhile.

It'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

Maybe but true as of this morning! ;)
I was speaking to the irony of exalting a squeak-by victory, in what has heretofore been an unchallenged seat.
