Ocasio-Cortez: All the single-payer VA needs is more money to succeed

I think you either miss the point or arent bright enough to get it.

Most junior level politicians dont take the main stage until they at least know what the **** they are talking about. It prevents them from constantly having to cover for their **** ups.

Yeah, I remember all the times you criticized Republicans who did that

When I have looked at the alleged dumb things she says, I find them taken out of context or incomplete. Best example was her Green New Deal roll out. True she was the face of the proposal, but let's not mention that many other democrats supported the idea, and that several of our allies are on board with the analysis and some of the proposals. Grownups, people we trust to go to the bathroom by themselves, actually suggested she wanted to ban hamburgers and didn't know that trains couldn't travel over oceans. As she put it, she knew she would face opposition for the GND, "but didn't expect them to make fools of themselves."

Hillary is out of the picture, so here comes another outspoken woman, cum laude graduate from the east, for the GOP and conservatives to attack. Can't make her out to be Cruella DeVille as they did with Hillary, so let's try ditsy. She's young, brown, may be around for years as she is from a secure district, so let's start with a video she made in school (backfired). Ok, what about her clothes?

The Ocasio Obsession.

Face of the proposal? She sponsored the ****ing bill. It's literally her pet project.

Now thats just a shame. Those thoughts were sincere.

Its rather pathetic that you assign intent to your wife. Nothing I said would, could, or should be implied to her...and yet there you are making yourself into some impotent pathetic little martyr with zero foundation.

Which rather reinforces the whole "So you might get a feel for why I dont much give a **** about your opinion or feel the need to answer your questions about my service." thing.

Because...seriously...

I bet if you got down of your cross we could find better use for the wood.

You don't have any argument about the VA, it's just that simple. So instead you are desperately trying to make this about me, and you're failing, because all I ever did was ask you a legitimate question.
I complimented and honored your service, and...well...we all know what that got me. And all because I asked legitimate questions.

WTF are you hiding?

You don't want to answer, then don't answer...and you didn't.
And it's okay if you don't value the opinions of spouses who are right there taking care of veterans.
I guess that means you feel the same way if it's not a spouse, but instead one of their kids, or another family member, because it wouldn't make any sense if you're that bitter ONLY about spouses.
Or maybe it would, but I am not interested in your marital situation.

I was only interested in learning why a clearly committed and capable soldier with seven deployments has such a low opinion of both the VA AND the disabled vets that USE the VA.
I think most people on this board would agree that I had an honest question.

But hey, if it makes you feel better, who am I to stop you from having your fun?
In a few weeks, my wife will be home again. I see her every single day, she is only 15 minutes from here, but it's not the same as having her here at home. But at least I can sleep at night because the staff actually takes incredibly good care of her, and they always have.

You? I couldn't begin to guess what you have at home, but I had honest and legitimate questions about what caused you to have a horrible opinion of the VA and you decided to try to make me a punching bag instead.
Would you rather my wife tell you to cram your best thoughts personally?

I can arrange that, you know. All I have to do is let her read this thread.

Yeah, I bet it has nothing to do with a gazillion miles of government red tape.

It is customary to back up arguments with facts, not whining and fabrication.
Simply put, the VA Mission Act, and Veterans Choice RELEASED underserved vets, and pays for their private sector care at participating private sector clinics and hospitals.
I know how it works, the vet just goes there like any private citizen and when it's time to pay, they pull out their VA card.
What are YOU talking about?

No one even knows.

By the way, THIS last paragraph in the MedPage Today article is thought provoking:

"As resources in the VA are increasingly diverted to purchase care in the community, it remains to be seen if access to healthcare services can be maintained while access in the private sector continues to deteriorate,"

JAMA Network Open

Cashour, the VA spokesman, said some quality measures are not risk-adjusted, so statistics could appear inflated. He said certain veterans, such as those with spinal cord injuries, are at “much higher risk” of developing bedsores.

Did you read Anthony Principi's recommendations yet?

Yeah, I remember all the times you criticized Republicans who did that
Gospel truth? You dont know **** about that and you wouldnt acknowledge the facts about the times I have been critical of republicans on this site because those times dont fit your pathetic sad little partisan stereotypes.

As a veteran I disagree. I WOULD agree that any veteran with a legitimate service connected disability should qualify for that level of care, but thats kind of the problem. The VA has become this monolithic catch all for servicemembers that dont have and didnt secure healthcare (and their spouses). Thats not what the VA was ever built to become.

About 10 years ago, the standard line for all retiring Servicemen men was that you had to go to the VA and get on disability to get that extra paycheck. About 15 YEARS ago, the VA system changed disability payments from a tax exempt retirement offset to a concurrent pay system. In other words...if you retired and were deemed 50% disabled, 50% of your retirement pay was taxed and 50% was sent from the VA non taxed. After many years of lobbying that was changed so that now, instead of an offset you get your full retirement AND a paycheck equal to your percentage of disability rating (anything over 30% resulted in a paycheck). Suddenly, the VA rolls expanded. Then they started accepting spouses of retirees. Then retirees, even if they didnt have service connected disabilities (because you can ALWAYS find a way to make it service connected). Then came people that claimed suicidal ideation. Now...if you joined and were kicked out in basic but call the VA hospital and say I am a former serviceman and I am actively suicidal, odds are you are going to be hospitalized and become disabled.

And NONE of those scenarios had ANYTHING to do with what the VA was built to provide.

Oh...and can we talk about the administration boondoggle the VA has become and their number of administrators to providers? Or the expansion of 'specialty' clinics and the number of administrators that govern each of those offices?

veterans should have full medical coverage for all conditions. that is the least that we can do.

Kinda tough promoting a government run system when the government run system we have is a cluster****.

see my earlier posts.

They should have the same coverage as congress and the president, hell we all should for that matter...

Thats nice of you to have that position...legit. But veterans that stay in for a full career already have some of the best insurance options in Tricare. Thats one of the tradeoffs/incentives of agreeing to a military career.

i agree, though i would support giving veterans more coverage than the average citizen / politician.

To bad she is so young, she could bury Trump.

Is this a joke or sarcasm that didn't translate well? AOC does not play well outside her distract and is loosing support in her distract.

Feel free to post links to any of your posts criticizing Trump for being a political newcomer who makes stupid statements on subjects he doesn't understand to get attention

Not true

Nationwide, AOC polls about as well as the avg well known member of the House. Amongst Democrats, she does better than most

I really don't know much about her, but I do find her entertaining, and it just because of her appearance.

The fact she drives cultists bat**** crazy is funny as hell...

:lamo

Come on now....

You don’t suppose there is a reason even Pelosi said “a glass of water with a D next to it could win her district” ?

Correct. It’s a secure democratic district, much like Pelosi’s. Her bigger electoral accomplishment was her primary victory. Your point?

Face of the proposal? She sponsored the ****ing bill. It's literally her pet project.

It’s not a bill. She appeared with another Congressperson to announce the proposal, a set of objectives to deal with a perceived or real problem, depending on one’s viewpoint. It is much like FDR’s National Recovery Act, which actually was a bill that passed. It was declared unconstitutional, as I imagine the Green New Deal would be if made law. But many of the NRA’s provisions remained law, much as I believe some of her proposals would.

My point was that instead of discussing the proposal, conservatives focused on cow farts, emblematic of the level of policy discourse these days.

The point is obvious...its not the GOP that has issues with that idiot Ocasio Cortez. Plenty in the rat party know how stupid she makes them all look as well. Like her most recent gem.
