NHL - 2016/2017 Season [W:290]

Woooooooot what a game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cosby scored early on for the Penguins but after that it was the last goal. Blue Jackets scored in the first period to tie. They scored two more in the second period . But in the third period they scored 4 goals in 3 minutes 40 seconds. Penguins 1 Blue Jackets 7

The Blue Jackets leap frog into first place in the Metropolitan Division. Sniff Sniff, I smell playoffs. Woooooot!

Heads up to CanadaJohn. A couple of years ago he told me they were still a young team but he saw a lot of talent. This year they have new players yet they are all playing like a team. With 7 goals no person stands out as the best player.

What a game!

13 straight games. At this point... it's gonna be really hard for the Blue Jackets not to make the play offs.

Ottawa is going to retire Alfie's number tonight. It's going to be an amazing night for such an amazing person and hockey player. He's incredibly loved here in Ottawa -- almost god-like status.

Make that 14 straight games. They beat the Wild and face off with them again tonight. But I have a dilemma because the Jackets and the Buckeyes are playing at the same time! Never in my life have I watched a hockey game and a football game at the same time. :)

The Detroit feed for the game featured a bunch of Wings talking about what a great guy he was. They really appreciated being the team Ottawa played after the ceremony. Was a fun game too.

Watching the alumni game between Detroit and Toronto now. I am totally geeked to see some of those guys again. Classy crowd, a lot of Wings got real cheers. And how does Tiger Williams look so young?

Blue Jackets just made their 15th straight win in MN against the Wild! 4-2

Tonight they matched the record for the second longest winning streak in NHL history. Yes, my Blue Jackets ....I know it is hard to believe for even me. If they win the next 2 games they will match the record for the longest winning streak Pittsburgh’s 17-game run in 1993 .

A couple of years ago Canada John said he saw a lot of talent in the CBJ and told me to give them a couple of years. Well December 2016 they had a perfect month.

It was an awesome game. MN Wild is a heck of team.

I so totally marked out at the 100 greatest of the first 50 years. Great stuff at the Classic.

From one of the all time worst to first. I am as stunned as you are.

Time to see if the Blue Jackets can make it 17 straight. :)

Yeah, just about to end regulation tied.

Edit: going to overtime.

Are there any notable up and coming stars playing tonight that you know of that we can expect to be seeing in the NHL next year?

USA USA USA wins!!!!

Really great game to watch. Shoot out is BS but I'll take it. Barzal didn't play like that for the Islanders this year. Looks good though, Bellows too.

Bellows was exciting to watch. The game was great. Coming back twice, team USA showed great determination.

Hockey for us Blue Jackets fans has been rather exciting this season. We the faithful fans finally have something to cheer about. They are currently third place in the Metropolitan Division, just one single point behind the Penguins. Big game tonight against the Penguins.

My eight year old grandson plays on a hockey team. A few weeks back they got to go up against another team at Nationwide arena during intermission at a Blue Jackets game as the future Blue Jackets (3 minutes or so on the ice). He was dressed just like a Blue Jacket only pint size. It was a big deal for him to be playing in the arena. He was the only one to score a goal. He had a chance at a second one and just missed it. He was named MVP and they interviewed him on the jumbo screen. Papa Johns awarded him with a certificate for free pizzas.

Game time in 6 minutes. Go Blue Jackets!

I haven't been in this thread for a while but wanted to send out my congrats to the good folks in Columbus, the long suffering fans of a pretty good hockey market, who are finally getting some reward for their support. It's great to see. I love hockey and I love when hockey is embraced by other markets. And to see the Blue Jackets doing it in what has been the toughest division in hockey this year is special.

Now, your team hasn't played a lot of games within your own division yet this year and you just had your terrific winning streak end, so it will be a real test of character for the team and the coaches to not let one loss slide into multiple losses, similar to what's happened recently with the Flyers. Good luck to you and your team and have lots of fun along the way.

Leafs' fans loved to give hassle him for his Sundin stick incident, but he was always a class act.

Wanted to give a shout out to my Leafs on a terrific month of December, continuing into January, currently 5-0-1 and on a 10-4-5 run in their last 20. Pretty damn good for a team that was 30th over all last year. Very exciting for Leafs' fans to see all the young and rookie talent playing with such speed and determination, even when they have multiple brain farts along the way. Their win tonight, in New Jersey, finds them climbing into 3rd place in the division, tied on points for 2nd with Ottawa. Pretty heady stuff for a super young team and we get Montreal at the Air Canada Centre tomorrow night for one of those classic Leafs/Canadiens battles.

Also wanted to note a pretty amazing stat, I thought - Leafs rookies have scored 150 points so far this season and that number is about 100 points more than the team in second place. That really bodes well for this team going into the future.

I have to give a lot of credit, grudgingly, to Brendan Shanahan who has led the Leafs into the dark, dark basement but has now started to lead them up the stairs into the light. Respect has to be given for being the first to truly strip the team down to build anew and the Leafs seem to be well in advance of schedule. I won't hold out unrealistic hopes of making the playoffs or doing well in them this year, but the Leafs are a really fun team to watch and that's really important.

It was a fun game to watch. I think the Sens ownership and staff were excited by this tournament as 2 of their prospects -- Chabot for Team Canada and White for team USA -- were standouts throughout the tournament.

Ovechkin 1000 points.
