Glad to hear it. The electoral college needs to go, it's an extremely old and outdated institution. Being born in a small state should not automatically make your vote count for more.

Obama lost independents 45%-50% in 2012...and won his election. Just because Republicans can't win the presidency without independents...doesn't mean Democrats can't.

Do you realize that California alone gave Mrs. Clinton the popular vote majority.
Let's go to California where Clinton got all the votes she needs for a plurality:
Clinton 8,753,798
Trump 4,483,810

So Clinton won the plurality one state California by 4,270,000 votes
While Trump won the plurality in the other 49 states combined by over 1,500,000 votes

The Democrats received over 4 million more votes in California than Trump.
In bizarroville California where people with driver liscenses become voter
eligible how many of the huge waves of illegals since 1980
who are sheltered in this odd sanctuary state voted & how many conservative
who realized their vote wouldn’t matter stay home.

Anyone in the other 49 states who thinks that election for POTUS should be determined by popular vote is
relinquishing their privilege to vote & is seeding their vote to the voters of California. California is one of 3
states in the union that the majority of inhabitants are minorities, 62% minority in fact. Do you want the
election to be insured to a party that so dominates in a state where minorities prevail, I don't!

Engaging in something like this is so deviates from the norm
to the point that in no other presidential election in US history did a candidate obtain
the plurality of the popular vote from only one state.

Not in the closest elections 1960 or 2000 was the deviation from the mean as astonishing
as were California totals in 2016 only someone really ignorant or just plain silly can't see how
bad an idea this proposal is!

No, the point clearly did go over your head. And your vapid response hasn't changed that fact. Obama lost independents by 5% and still won his re-election by a decent margin. Republicans have never done that...and likely never will.

Please do the math or stop bugging me. I have no time for people who avoid factual answers. Math is math. Our elections are based in simple math. I asked you if Trump would have won without the independent vote. You are making a humorous remedial math mistake. The election isn't based on the independent vote it is based on all votes. Who won the independent vote is irrelevant to whether or not you can win without it. Math is math. This has a factual answer. It's the one you know but are trying to weasel out of answering.

No, at this point you are trolling. Here are the facts:

- Trump won his election due to roughly 80,000 votes in 3 blue states. In those states, Democrat turn out for Clinton was lower than it was for Obama in his two election wins.
- Trump won independents by 4 points and won, and Romney won independents by 5 points and lost.
- Trump's victory was entirely due to Hillary doing worse among Democratic voting blocs than Obama. Had she been able to garner the same support Obama did, she'd be in the whitehouse today.

Your constant trolling with the math you yourself haven't done doesn't change any of those facts.

Because the President is leader of all States not just New Mexico. You do understand this is just a way to choose a President by popular vote like most democratic nations do today. All votes should count equally don't you think? 78,000 voters in 3 States decided the election in 2016. Is that a fair way to decide an election in a country with 300 million people?
