Nevada judge dismisses case against Cliven Bundy and sons, says government cannot retry them - LA Times

A federal judge ruled Monday that the federal government may not retry Cliven Bundy and his sons after rebuking prosecutors for withholding evidence during their felony trial stemming from an armed standoff four years ago.
U.S. District Court Judge Gloria Navarro declared a mistrial in the case last month, saying federal prosecutors willfully withheld evidence that lawyers for the Bundys and alleged co-conspirator Ryan Payne should have had access to while mounting their defense.



She said the attorneys were in violation of the Brady rule, which requires prosecutors to disclose evidence that could be favorable to a defendant, and told them it wasn't possible to proceed with the case.


On Monday, she dismissed the case "with prejudice," meaning the government cannot retry the defendants. "The court finds that the universal sense of justice has been violated," Navarro said.

Please, just stop. There is a difference between a mistrial and being found innocent. Bundy and his crew violated the law. They threatened to murder federal officers who were executing their sworn duty, in compliance with and under the color of federal law.

The asshole is lucky he's not dead and deserves to be prison for the rest of his life for fueling an armed confrontation with law enforcement that almost got several people injured of killed.

All of sudden you conservatives hate the federal government and agree with armed lawbreakers because you just don't agree with the laws they're breaking. Sounds familiar, kind of like an old white version of Black Lives Matter, where citizens support law breakers because they don't like law enforcement doing their job.

Come on man, this isn't a good thing, this is awful. These idiots got away multiple crimes, some of which are considered violent, and right wingers are happy about it. Its actually great news ! It shows that the checks and balances that protect Amercan citizens from a corrupt and abusive and overreaching federal govt are stll place !

Without those checks and balances and without Judges like US District Court Judge Gloria Navarro, we would be no better than a third world banana republic.

This is yet another example of just how corrupt and abusive the FBI became under the Obama administration, because most of the exculpatory evidence withheld was from the FBI

If Bundy and his group were so guilty and got away with " so many crimes ", why did the Federal prosecutor withhold so much evidence ?

This Judge described the Federal prosecutors conduct as " outrageous " and that it violated the due process of the defendants and said the Federal prosecutors conduct was so egregious, that a fair Federafrom this point on is impossible.
