NCAA Tournament 2017

lol...I grew up in Chicago, with about a 6-year detour in Detroit. If the Bears ever get a QB, I might root for them again. But, I'm not holding my breath.

I actually live about as far away from Pittsburgh as I do Cleveland. My closest NFL team are the Bengals. But, I know enough not to get on their bandwagon....the wheels fall off of it to easily. Sort of like Detroit.

Wait a minute. You just said you would root for the Bears if they started winning. Isn't that the definition of a bandwagon fan?

Uh, no. I said that I would root for them if they ever get a QB. There's a difference. :)

North and South Carolinas - hopefully a Carolina Dreamin" final two. Marshall Tucker Band get ready to play.

The original Marshall Tucker Band is from SC. The Gamecocks are "searchin' for a rainbow" and "a pot of gold."

It's right there.

"Can't ya see?"

Help! I've fallen and I can't get up! I asphyxiated from the suspense of watching the Zag v. GameCock game!

Zags move on, 77 - 73, to play the winner of the Ducks v. TarHeels game for the Championship!

I love this tournament!

TarHeels choke on four key free throws in a row. Those two improbable TarHeel rebounds.. the first after the 2nd free throw... and the second rebound after the 4th free throw... preserve a one point win... 77 - 76. TarHeels move on to Monday's Championship game!

Meanwhile, on Sunday, the NCAA ladies play their Championship game.... South Carolina v. Mississippi State.

The Ducks got just what they wanted/needed --twice-- and could not get a rebound to give themselves a chance to win. One of the stranger finishes I've seen. UNC missed four free throws inside 6 seconds with a 1-point lead, and won. The basketball gods enjoy caprice.

Good morning, Jack. :2wave:

Indeed they do - it was April Fools day after all! :lamo

The South Carolina men had a Final Four appearance and played a highly competitive game against the Zags before bowing out.

And the GameCock Ladies.... WOW! They go back to Columbia, SC as the new Champs! Show 'em Love!

Congratulations to the University of South Carolina and all its fans! You Rocked!

Wow! Good call on Gonzaga! It really could happen! They're at least #2 for sure - we'll find out tomorrow!

35 - 32 ... Zags lead NC at halftime.

From where I sit and watch, I still haven't made a prediction on who wins. I prefer the TarHeels.

With the Zags up by 1, NC went on a 9 to 2 run and wins the Game 71 - 65!

No sleep tonight in Chapel Hill, North Carolina!

All Grins!

2nd half, last night, fatigue set in. I dug deep... and kept one eye open until the end. Buoyed by the TarHeel victory, I surged long enough to make a final post... and to read your Zag post. I already knew time and again I tended to agree with your political viewpoints... however, I had never really paid attention to your profile stuff on the left side of your posts.

Duly noted:

We joined DP the same month and year. We have posted at about the same rate. You have given more Likes and garnished more Likes, but I don't lag far behind! We both describe ourselves as Progressives. Cyber-speaking, I look up to you.

I have spent a bit of leisure time in Bend, Oregon, but have never visited the Seattle WA area. I have family roots on my paternal grandmother's side near Chapel Hill, NC .... and I have spent leisure time in Chapel Hill, so I rooted for the TarHeels. That said....

.... the Zags had a Great Team, Great Season and showed Class Act Character even in losing! They increased their fan base by multitudes! Once the sting and heartbreak of their close loss fades just a bit, the Team and their Fans can begin to appreciate the quality of their season! The Zags absolutely earned the Deepest Respect of all of us who Love College Basketball!

We could not believe the low shooting percentage on each team. I guess we should call it a "defensive battle". It was a "nail-biter" of a game - close the whole time.

You're right - our profiles are very similar! I'm also a Star Trek fan! I don't know if I deserve respect, however.I've been warned by the mods several times for being out of line!

Have a great rest of your week, TT!

It's such a shame the championship game had to be ruined by overeager referees. I'm always a big fan of calling games tight, but what the referees did last night simply went too far. Calling a foul because a defender hit a non-shooting hand well after the ball had been released? C'mon, that's rec league stuff.

It's a shame the referees didn't call the game the way it should have been called, it would have been a much more high-scoring and much more enjoyable game.

I watch almost no college ball, was only watching because it was Gonzaga, but ya. I was surprised that the announcers went on and on about it, I dont think that the NBA allows announcers to hurt the brand like that anymore. This was not very fun to watch, and not only because my team did not win.

It seemed as if the refs thought all those people were there to watch them. They definitely hurt the game.
