Not at all, bomberfox. I am pointing out that people could just use your enthusiasm for being a furry as an attack upon your character, and dismiss any argument you make with the equivalent of saying "whatever, weirdo," which would be wrong. Using shame or simply assuming aspects of their someone's personal character and then attacking them for it without addressing their arguments is fallacious (argumentum ad hominem, to be precise) and intellectually dishonest.
I did not vote for Donald Trump, bomberfox. But even if I did, that would not make any given position I hold automatically incorrect or any position that you hold automatically correct.
I understand that, and I often feel the same way except from the opposite political perspective, with too many examples to count. But the one thing that helps me keep my calm is understanding that most people on the internet are not complete sociopaths, and actually believe they are correct and their beliefs are good and just. It is why I do my best not to treat my interlocutors with contempt.
I am using something that is clearly near and dear to you to illustrate a point. You are an open furry, and there is nothing wrong with that. But you nonetheless understand that many people on the political right, left and center find the fandom off-putting at best and worthy of hatred, scorn and obloquy at worst. And there are some creeps who take their furry enthusiasm way too far and end up hurting other people with it and making others miserable with their acts of extreme exhibitionism. It would be wrong to attack you and your character for the acts of other furries without evidence that you yourself engaged in those activities or supported others engaging in those activities; in the same way that it is wrong to attack some Muslims for the wicked acts of entirely different Muslims without any evidence that they engaged in similar activities or supported those activities. I do not get to use your identity or your voting record as a means with which to automatically dismiss your arguments.
I agree with literally all of your points, with one exception, and would add one thing. As to what I would add, I want strong border security to stop people from illegally entering our country, including guarded and patrolled barriers. As to the point of disagreement the so-called "regime change mission" has been over for decades. While we exert massive economic influence in South and Central America, the era of installing fascist dictators of Banana Republics has not been in effect for nearly three decades now (really since the collapse of the Soviet Union). That is not to excuse the cruelties of the past, but let us look at the present with a clear eye.
