Nasty man says what?

Of course it is. Parliament and prime minister and everything.
If Trump wanted to buy New Zealand would he make an offer to the Prime Minister of England?

If he DID intend to make an offer to the Prime Minister of England, he should make it to the Prime Minister of England or another appropriate government official. Not let it play out absurdly in the media and then get miffed when he gets bad press and cancel his official presidential activities because he was embarrassed by the natural consequences of his unpresidential activities. (Then, if he had first contacted the government of England in appropriate manner, when he learned that the Prime Minister of England couldn't help him get what he wanted he wouldn't have needed to feel so embarrassed.)

You’re making good points, but we are talking about an egomaniac. I don’t think it would be unreasonable to assume that Trump actually thought he would get good press out of this. He is worried about his own legacy, and wants to go down has great. Handling it the way you suggest wouldn’t create a historical record and collective conscious surrounding the issue. Trump tried to actually purchase Greenland, and fight for it, unlike a great like Truman.

Truman pitched the idea in Cold War secrecy, and his premise was to combat the spread of communism. Truman went about in a more presidential way, and was told no in secrecy.

Trump wanted the media coverage. It’s no accident, but he is so self obsessed he lacks the foresight of seeing how this could go wrong for him. His legacy will not be like Truman’s in any way. I woul not be surprised if Trump tries to inappropriately piggy back a idea of another great former president. He doesn’t seem to have any great ideas himself.

Isn’t it funny that Trump ran on telling it like it is and destroying PC culture. Trump and his base want PC culture to apply to them and only them. It’s ok for Trump to call Jews disloyal, tell Americans to go back where they came from, say Mexicans cross the boarder because they are rapists and bad, etc, but how ****ing dare somebody call this orange clown absurd? How ****ing dare they.

Yes, and it's a point not made nearly often enough. Heck the whole kneeling thing was just a bunch of PC snowflakes upset because some NFL players didn't stand at attention for the national anthem, and Trump wanted him fired for being non-PC.

A good rule of thumb with right wingers these days is it's almost always projection with these people.

I agree they are projecting.

He would most likely be dead by now if he actually did that.

From Adderall? No not likely.
And by the way, not all drug addicts are delicate little flowers who just OD and die.
William S. Burroughs was a hardcore heroin user for nearly ALL of his eighty-three years.
Charles Bukowski was an unrepentant hardcore alcoholic who drank to unconscious stupor every day of his life until seventy-three and then still made it to eighty anyway.

Okay? Trump is just on the early side of his seventies so by that measure he's a "youngster".
The planet is crawling with old drunken Scotsmen who refuse to keel over no matter how much you fill them up with strong liquor and bad food.

Again, Greenland is not for sell. Secondly, the people of Greenland should have a say in being sold to America.

It is absurd. What does Trump except? He actually thinks it's reasonable for Denmark to sell their territory to a foreign government, without giving the people a say? Even excepting Denmark to put that to vote would be absurd. If it's not for sell, it's not for sell.

It is almost literally like you have zero idea about the fact that business transactions like this actually happen in the world...

It is not absurd. It is a business reality. Just last year China inquired into buying part of Greenland. ABSURD! Nope... reality.

Hopefully you have learned something... but I doubt it.

Trump is the King of Israel, the Chosen, and the second coming per his Twitter account. Not Obama. Get it right, Bodi!

Wasted post...

If you did work in mental health for several years, then you should probably give the O/P every bit of scrutiny it deserves.

There is a difference between working in the mental health field and being in the care of a mental health professional.

Keep going. The wheels were stupid. When I pounded you into the ground, you tried to switch to the even stupider dice. Then you accused me of hiding. Now you're bringing up chronological order, which we never discussed. Keep trolling.

The context of the analogy is obvious to anybody with a basic understanding of logic...

If they vote for what makes sense for their pocketbook, then Trump loses the midwest votes which gave him his flukish electoral college win. Farmers, for example, are torn. The majority of midwestern farmers continue to try to show support for Trump's trade wars -- they bravely say they think Trump is trying to do what's best -- but the majority also say Trump's trade wars are hurting them.

So if they vote what makes sense for their pocketbook, then Trump loses. They won't necessarily cross over and vote for the Democrat but there should be great attrition from Trump's original set of farm voters.

Not really. Because while Trump has his trade war with China.. which IS hurting US farmers in the Midwest,, Trump has softened the blow with more subsidies for these farmers. In the meantime.. you have the far left.. calling for more regulations (which generally hurt farmers).. and more calls to "stop global warming"...which generally all leads toward more regulations and hurting of agriculture. Lots of power and energy goes into turning the soil. Lots of spraying and fertilization goes into the soil.. and agriculture is one of the leading producers of greenhouse gases.. probably as high as the transportation sector.

So balance a short term trade war. with increased subsidies to soften the blow... and things like a new green deal etc with long term regulations and changing of how agriculture does business...

I hate Trump's patronizing. Special country makes me think everyone has Downs or something.

Jesus on a Pancake...

Even when he compliments people you insult him...

Keep thinking that your opinion concerns me.

Subconsciously... it does.

Which is why the whole concept of buying sovereignty is outdated and repulsive to the modern sensibility.

Repulsive? Holy Cow just freaking relax...

His reason is correct. All the Danish PM minister needed to say is "no, we're not interested" rather than calling it "absurd."

I guess Denmark is an "absurd" country since Denmark has sold one of its colonies to the USA in the past.

If we want Greenland we should just go take it. That's how Denmark got it.

They are now part of the population of one country, when previously they were part of another. They're not property in the legal sense, but they were transferred from one nation to another, because the land under them was transferred. They can leave, but if they stay they are under US administration and functionally a part of our nation. So yes, you buy the people with the land, unless you evict them.

So what?

The citizens of Greenland told Trump that they were not for sale last Friday yet he still pressed the Danish Prime Minister about it today and she was rightly outraged by his gall. That is how it went. Trump call women "nasty" all the time. It's his thing.

Why Trump keeps calling women 'nasty' (opinion) - CNN

Why is being asked a business question a reason to be rightly outraged and insult a person? She does not act Presidential but that gets a pass... but Trump responds to her and he does not... pretty obvious bias on your part.

It's 2019. It's not normal for POTUS to make PUBLIC offers to buy another country in this era.

Trump: Hey, let's buy Greenland!
Greenland: That's bat**** crazy. We aren't for sale!
Trump: How nasty!

You: What's the problem? :lamo

It is 2019 and you need to catch up with the times... people Tweet all the time now.

LOL, it's not? Then what is it? Just a bunch of people hanging out on some land ruled by community halls or something?

And it's insulting because it implies that they're for sale to the United States for the asking. They're not, and if we were serious about buying Greenland it's sure as hell NOT the way to go about it via Tweet or public musings about how nice it would be to own that land and rule over them.

So if Japan offered to buy Tennessee you would actually be "insulted"?

When did American's become such ninnies that something this minor becomes repulsive, offensive and insulting?

Well, ****, why doesn't China put a bid in for Mississippi or Alabama. We might let them go for cheap after Trump leaves office! Or the current POTUS at that time will tell them to go piss up a rope, it's the dumbest idea they've ever heard. That's probably more likely.

Why can't you just acknowledge the fact that the USA asking about Greenland is not such an absurd idea?

the USA bought the Virgin Islands from Denmark for 25 million... I notice none of you have responded to that one.

It is 2019 and you need to catch up with the times... people Tweet all the time now.

Yes, I know that. I'm not sure what that has to do with the discussion, but thanks for the heads up. I'm a regular Twitter user and am glad to know that the tweets I see in my feed are in fact real and due to people Tweeting all the time now!

First of all, you didn't answer my question. And, no, you didn't give some 'factual evidence.' You said that driving a particular kind of car and having a certain kind of job is evidence of hypocrisy, which is stupid. You're a teacher. You know better than this, or I hope you do, because if not I feel for your students. ;)

Yes I did.. I provided factual evidence that Cons give more to Charity than Libs do... and what was your question?

We do not own people and buy and sell them like cattle in 21st century. A real leader would know that. The Danish Prime minister simply called that notion "absurd" and Trump called her "nasty" like he does all women that don't do what he wants. It was a disgusting display by our resident moron.

Yes I did.. I provided factual evidence that Cons give more to Charity than Libs do... and what was your question?

Naturally. When you remove churches from the equation, you'll find they both donate about equally.

So if Japan offered to buy Tennessee you would actually be "insulted"?

Yes. The proper response to a public offer by Abe to buy Tennessee is, "LOL, that's absurd. I hope you're joking!"

When did American's become such ninnies that something this minor becomes repulsive, offensive and insulting?

Because Trump is an incompetent buffoon, and instead of just acknowledging that his handling of the Greenland nonsense was incompetent and buffoonish, we have people like you pretending it's somehow normal. He's a walking embarrassment.

You have to be trolling now because there are lots of reasons to cancel a foreign trip, and the problem isn't that Trump "cancelled a foreign trip" which is common, but that he cancelled BECAUSE Trump the man child was butt hurt over Greenland calling the idea they're for sale "absurd" when it is in fact absurd.

So it's not hypocritical to approve or or not condemn a cancellation for one reason, and condemn cancelling a trip for other, stupid as hell, reasons.

If you're not trolling, you need to brush up on what the word "hypocrisy" and its variants actually mean because you're badly mangling the usage in every post.

Of course I am doing something that you mentioned but that does not mean that there is not some truth to it either....
